PHOENIX -- It was a wild weekend for a valley homeowner. He returns home from work to find an intruder in his home. That homeowner, armed with a gun, fired shots at the suspect -- killing him.
Now we're hearing the 911 call that the homeowner made to police just moments after he pulled the trigger.
We went to the homeowner's house and talked to him. He's really upset about the shooting and did not want to talk on-camera.
But what he told us is exactly the same story he told a 911 operator when he called right after the shooting.
Operator: "911 where is your emergency?"
Homeowner: "I just got home from work. There's a burglar inside. Send an ambulance. I shot him."

First words has to be: “I feared for my life and I could not safely leave my home. I HAD to fire to protect my life.”
I can’t even imagine the courage it took him to go into that house to investigate. He probably thought it would be over and everything would be on the floor.
Has anyone else noticed the increased usage of the present tense when reporting news? It is driving me crazy.
‘He returns home from work’
This is constant in the reporting here.
Command of English does not seem to be a requirement for broadcasters any more. I noticed years ago that the people that do the radio ads almost all have speech defects, inabilities to say certain sounds, for instance, even a noticeable lisp for one fellow.
An American Hero...this is a legitamate case of one person being Judge, Jury and Executioner, justice served at the scene of the crime, one man serves and protects; something 100 cops can’t do.
Tens of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money saved, win win win all around.
They do that for the same reason the retarded anchors start every story with “Tonight...”
It’s to make it seem more “urgent.” It’s the crap they teach in J-school.
sniff, I just love happy endings!
Correct marktwain. Why anyone would call 911 in this situation is beyond me. The problem was taken care of, now you are recorded so the the relatives of the intruder can sue you and the cops investigate to bolster families case.
Don’t call anyone. Bury the intruder and forget it. Save your self a lot of legal fees
Ahhh, yes, the ol' triple S!
Dont call anyone. Bury the intruder and forget it. Save your self a lot of legal fees.
