That's right. Ted Cruz to be on Leno tonight. Looking forward to FReepers comments as they are always informative and many are very humorous at the same time. Buckle up FReepers. I'm sure that Ted and Jay will keep us both informed and entertained.
Stay tuned or set your DVRs (NBC). This should be great. Go Cruz!
Hopefully, this is posted early enough to give FReepers time to plan on watching or recording. I will do both :)

Did you notice that Cruz' appearance on the Tonight Show was announced IMMEDIATELY AFTER Cruz' father's remark hit the news? This was an 0bama>>G.E.>>NBC>>Leno HIT on Cruz as payback for his father's remark that 0bama should "go back to Kenya".

LENO IS A LEFTIST A-HOLE and I'm boycotting his show!

In response to Leno's remark that 0bamacare "is the law", Cruz should've said "Slavery was the law, too, Jay". Leno butchered Cruz then went to a commercial without Cruz being able to respond.

This was a hit job on Cruz. Leno is a pr!ck. Why didn't Cruz remark that he was vindicated by trying to stop 0bamacare because the current mess is proof of that?

Cruz needs some color in his face! He looks like he’s been hiding in the Adams’ Family’s basement!

I agree 100%. Your take on it as a member of the live audience matches what I saw as a television viewer. I haven’t watched Leno in quite awhile, but I absolutely remember him being at least passingly polite to other Republicans, and even conservatives, that he’s interviewed. Including, as you said, Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter.

In his interview with Sen. Cruz, Leno was doing a flawless impersonation of Letterman. I’m not sure that Sen Cruz was expecting that. But I’m glad Ted got the opportunity to experience up close and personal what it will be like being attacked by asshat inquisitors who won’t allow him to speak, will go after his family members, and flat out make up sh*t about his policy positions.

Ted Cruz is a brilliant man, a VERY fast learner, and he’ll have learned a lot from this experience. I’m counting on that. I’m SO glad you guys were there to support him!

I watched the show... I read the thread last night, as it appeared live on FR... my take away is: Jay Leno is the substance on the bottom of my shoe after I inadvertently step on dog shit. PERIOD. >>>.<<< Allow me... FUJL.

I like Cruz a lot but he was just so-so on Leno. Nothing bad but not all that impressive either. I disagree with some who are of the opinion that Leno attacked Cruz or that he went after him. Leno asked him typical questions that Cruz will keep getting, and Cruz will probably get these kinds of questions in a much more hostile way than what Leno asked.

My goodness......I only caught the last 2 minutes last night and from reading y'alls posts, I was scared to find the complete video for fear of being very disappointed.

Maybe my level of expectation was lowered, but I thought it a very good interview....

...Cruz was able to answer the questions....it wasn't nearly as rapid fire as some interviews I've seen with other hosts on other channels.

Cruz got his points across.....Jay did interrupt him but not too much.

All due respect, I think most of us here have so much vested in Senator Cruz, we play it a little too close to the vest.....and that's understandable, as a LOT depends on turning our Republic around.

You wonderful Freepers in the audience are commended for the encouraging applause and great response to Senator Cruz....YOU ALL ROCK!

Jay’s treatment stunk. Cruz is certainly is capable of answering tough questions, but the interview should have been more light-hearted.

That is what I expected, too.
It **is** supposed to be a COMEDY show, right?

Come to think of it, wasn’t Christy on Jimmy Fallon Friday night? Didn’t watch. I wonder how it went.

Check out THIS wonderful analysis, from pjmedia.com:
Compare and Contrast: Leno Interviewing Obama and Cruz
Does Jay have a double standard?

On Friday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz made his first appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Leno, allegedly in his last season as host of the Tonight Show, has not been known as a particularly partisan entertainer,
so it was surprising to see him go “Candy Crowley” on Ted Cruz...

-- snip --

.. Some on Twitter compared Leno to a prosecuting attorney as he interrupted Cruz and accused him
of everything from shutting down the government to wanting violent psychopaths to have guns.

Cruz, for his part, used the appearance to his advantage, clearly understanding both the venue and the audience.
Although Cruz is certainly more than capable of holding his own in a debate with Leno,
he chose mostly to keep his powder dry, defying the media-generated image of him as a hostile aggressor.
He was relaxed and laid back, despite the tough questioning.

It seemed to go over well with the audience, which erupted into cheers after several of Cruz’s points.

It’s interesting to go back and watch Leno’s interview with President Obama from this past August
and compare the questions and tone with Leno’s interview with Cruz last night...

The modicum of respect I had for Leno just evaporated.

******

My hubs and I said the same thing. Leno really was hard on Cruz instead of enjoying him as an intelligent guest...which is a rarity for The Tonight Show anyway.

“Jay’s guest musician had the presence of mind to pay Cruz his due respect.”

What happened? I only saw the go between Cruz and Leno did something happen else that I miss?
