NSA officials consider Edward Snowden amnesty in return for documents
The Guardian ^ | 15 December 2013 | Spencer Ackerman

National Security Agency officials are considering a controversial amnesty that would return Edward Snowden to the United States, in exchange for the extensive document trove the whistleblower took from the agency.

An amnesty, which does not have the support of the State Department, would represent a surprising denouement to an international drama that has lasted half a year. It is particularly unexpected from a surveillance agency that has spent months insisting that Snowden’s disclosures have caused vast damage to US national security.

Manning was convicted. Snowden ran away, ergo, they are now trying to get Snowden.

NSA and State both sound desperate.

So sad.

Didn’t he hand off those documents? Isn’t it too late?

After reading the transcript of the 60 Minutes story on Drudge, I came away with the impression that they (NSA) are desperate. Snowden’s ability to clean them out, no matter how much they try to make him the bad guy, only shows what mickey-mouse security they had. We’ve seen this trend since the first Clinton, where normal WH security was considered old-fashioned. Well those chickens have come home...to roost.

A man who smuggled machine-guns to narcos specifically in order to generate grisly murder headlines.

A man guilty of uttering The Biggest Lie in US history publically over 50 times.

Could ANY PERSON trust him..?

The average person would say no, but there is NO WAY an ex NSA employee would do that.

Yeah. He works a deal, comes back to the U.S., turns over documents
and two days later he dies in a bad “accident”. Just coincidence, of course.

This article is misleading. I heard the number 3 guy on 60 Minutes say that his personal view was that amnesty should be considered. The number 1 guy, GEN Alexander said that he was opposed to amnesty. It seems that the Guardian is leaping several tall buildings with a single bound to reach this conclusion.

Evidently, this is the proposed meeting place where Snowden would return the documents:

He should only consider returning if the House, the Senate and Soetoro will agree to abolish Obamacare.

I am grateful to the little traitor for telling me what my government was doing.

Still, I wonder how many people have died as a result of his revelations? How many now live in constant fear?

Would amnesty encourage Snowden copycats?

I don't care what happens to Snowden personally. I just want to minimize the net damage to the United States from release of classified documents, now and in the future. If amnesty does that, fine.

Like how Steve Bridges, the man who did a devastating parody of obama, died of anaphylactic shock?

It is handy for the government to know everyone's medical history after all, isn't it?
