Obama plot: Black out '40% of U.S. power supply'
WorldNetDaily ^ | 1/14/2014 | unknown

Now a new Environmental Protection Agency rule on power plants requires a massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and threatens to block any new coal-fired energy facilities because they cannot hope to meet the new standards without using unproven and cost-prohibitive technology.

Concerned individuals may email the EPA with their comments at a-and-r-Docket@epa.gov. Comments MUST reference Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OAR-2013-0495.

The rule is currently in the public comment phase, but free-market energy advocates see the coal industry clearly within the Obama administration’s crosshairs.

It was said that the chem used/leaked was required to scrub the coal to reduce sulpher emissions.

So the stack scrubbers were not enough to satisfy the EPA? I thought that's what the stack scrubbers were for.

The Texas grid almost reached capacity last week. I’ve never seen that in the winter time. As such I bought one of these:

It is now a matter of when, not if it goes down.

Natural gas vs coal fired plants. Many of these (if not most) can switch between coal and NG. These plants make that switch back and forth based on economics. The ability to switch is what keeps NG affordable.

Good idea. You may need it long about June or July.

In GA you can live in the mountains without AC but down around Atlanta it would really be rough July, Aug and the first 2 weeks of Sept. The humidity gets so bad its just murder. Old people would keel over like flies. Maybe thats the plan.

Yes, send comments to the government. Two years ago the EAA and AOPA initiated a petition for rule-making that would allow people with recreational pilot privileges to fly small aircraft without first getting an FAA Third Class Medical Certificate as can Sport Pilots. Sixteen thousand people wrote in support of the petition. The FAA’s Obama-appointed Administrator refuses to discuss it or act upon the petition, which is unlawful. So, sixteen congressmen have now introduced legislation to basically end the Third Class Medical Certificate. Suddenly, the FAA is promising action on the original petition.

The main problem in interpreting this clown’s actions is deciding whether he and his are ignorant or malicious in harming our country.

Shouldn't be hard to figure out. Afterall, our Marxist Overlord signaled his intentions quite clearly very early on.

We have had that for many winters in the last couple decades.

Name a single power plant that can feed either natural gas or coal.

I’m not debating the fact that you read the article, I’m asking where you found information that the EPA is not issuing permits for LNG power plants?

What facts do you have to back up your statement?

Natural gas generators cannot switch to coal. I believe coal and biomass can be switched.

So what are the consequences for ignoring these regulations? A company builds a new plant that does not meet the standards and Obama is going to send in the military to tear it down? Yeah...that’ll go over big. Think the Alphabet soup networks would be able to hide that one?

Not true.

Fuel switching of a coal fired boiler is an engineering project, and means a derate for the unit. They were built to fire coal.

And that doesn't even consider if NG is available in sufficient quantity in the neighborhood.

Oh...I see...EPA is implementing rules which will result in closure of coal plants, and you believe that because cap and trade wasn’t passed that natural gas will be safe?

You must be a graduate of the “Alligator will eat me last” University.

You continue to ignore your claim of:

The EPA won’t authorize construction of any new natural gas facilities....

was false.

Maybe sometime in the future they will stop, but they have been permitting new nat gas plants, and even coal plants and continue to do.

They make it harder and more expensive, but they haven't stopped.

Firstly, what I am pointing out is you have no proof to your statement.

Secondly, if you read the EPA mandate, it only applies to future coal plant standards and EXEMPTS natural gas plants as long as they are combined cycle plants. Single cycle “peaker” plants are totally exempt.

GE is the worlds largest builder of gas turbine generators and also has an entire wind generation division. If you want to know why coal is being phased out you should follow the money trail.

This has nothing to do with pollution.

But the cap-and-trade system was never implemented.

And neither was the "card check" unionization law.

Both progressive dreams were sacrificed on the altar of Obamacare during that magic 2 years of Dem control of everything.

Absolutely. This is the Chicago Mob, not the progressive nirvana.
