Raiders cheerleader sues, says pay is less than $5 an hour

Lacy T. accused the Raiders in a lawsuit Wednesday of failing to pay the Raiderettes minimum wages for the work they do, both on the sidelines and in the community for charity. The team also sticks them with travel costs and levies "fines" that eat into their meager salary, she said.

She filed her lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court as a proposed class action on behalf of 40 current Raiderettes and other members of the squad over the past four years. And she said she hopes other NFL cheerleaders will join the fray.

there was no reason a good teacher shouldn’t make as much as a pro baseball player.

This will happen.....the day that there's as many teachers as there are people in the world who can consistently hit a Major League curve.

All the money NFL teams and players make and they want to stiff the cheerleaders —

Pay the girls.

A few years ago a teacher tried to tell me that there was no reason a good teacher shouldn’t make as much as a pro baseball player.

I hear that all the time. People don't seem to "get" that teachers' salaries and baseball players' salaries come from completely different sources. It's just a self-righteous, feel-good statement that people like to say.

Plus, no one is forced to pay a baseball player’s salary by way of taxation.

Well, you are correct. Keep in mind though that relatively....... some of us are old, very old.

We try hard, but can’t always keep up.

Perhaps if the girls wiggled their butts and shook their pom poms closer to the stands, the spectators could throw $ at them.

I’m not very, very old. Just very old! LOL

But I can still keep up, if the downhill grade is sufficient!

On the other hand, a world class college professor (comparable to a pro athelete) can earn millions. Here is a list of some of the highest paid college professors.

My my my. But they do bring some impressive skills to the table, don't they?

Minimum wage in CA is $6.75/hr. and you can’t just ‘volunteer’ at a for profit business its against the law. I was a little bit surprised at Lacy’s hue...thought it would be a little bit more suntanned it being in CA.

This thread is useless without pictures...

Sorry, I don't know how to post pics on FR...

And back closer to the topic... I wish the Eagles and Ravens cheerleaders would wear gogos. :(
