It’s a tiny little 3x5 decal.
Those who cannot follow directions not to deface the tiny little 3x5 flag decal are given free lessons in consequences and discipline.
That’s a good thing.

Mr. K,

I understand your point. Sometimes, though, it is a good thing to attempt to bring people up out of their squalor than to continue to treat them like that is where they belong. It only works sometimes, but it does work.

I think the reason most people commit crimes is because of arrogance; the laws and rules do not apply to them. Much of society today makes excuses for wrong doing and people get away with committing crimes and breaking rules. When they start experiencing consequences for their actions, they generally change their behavior. Sometimes.

He tried to cut their cable, but apparently, Kongress had decided cable tv was a "right" and made it a law......so, the prisoners can watch two channels (something silly).

Discovery Channel and Disney Channel, IIRC, and the TV can only be powered if an inmate pedals a bike hooked up to power it.

If I remember correctly, one of the cable channels was the Weather Channel, so they could find out how hot it was going to be when they work outside.

Bear in mind that most of his prisoners are probably not Americans. They don't give a damn for this country or any other. They are invaders & predators, pure & simple.

I'd like to see them making pebbles from boulders, using only a sledge hammer. For those convicted of violent crimes, immediate execution.

“They used to feed prisoners on bread and water in the old days and it didn’t kill them.”

Where and when?

You are missing Arpaio’s objective of reminding the prison population that they are subject to the laws of the United States, which is also that much more provocative to the illegal aliens who would trash the United States and American prisoners who are patriotic and remain loyal to the United States.

They used to feed prisoners on bread and water in the old days and it didn’t kill them.

Nonsense. Bread and water alone do not provide enough nutrients to sustain life.

I am NOT against disciplining them if they deface the sticker- i am all for that.

I am just thinking of the time and effort involved in all this

The Straight Dope says:

“So how long would you last? Judging from the experiences of old sea dogs and pilgrims with scurvy, it's possible you could live two years, especially if you allow yourself to drink water. (Purists such as myself regard this as cheating, but I know how it is with you kids these days.) With water you can eat less bread and not worry about your sodium intake—either the perilous excess or, conversely, a deficiency of sodium, which would also mean a hastier death. But if you don't drink water, and consequently try to shove six loaves down your throat day in and day out—and that means consuming about 8,000 calories a day, four times what a 160-pound man needs when he's moderately active (and you won't be)—you'll be lacing your urine with glucose and wildly overtaxing your kidneys. Which means you should be happy to be alive six months later—that is, if you don't wish you were dead.”

OK, we'll be nice. Bread & water up to two year for illegals, global warming promoters and politicians....6 months for the other prisoners.

Actually it’s going on now in Russia:

“I was forced to survive on bread and water in Russian prison because it didn’t serve vegetarian alternative says freed British Greenpeace activist

Antony Perrett arrived home yesterday after spending two months in prisons in Murmansk and St Petersburg for trying to hang a climate change banner on an oil rig. “

Only 7 days? This crime deserves bread & water for the rest of their time spent.

They will not enjoy those seven days. It is a harsh punishment more than some may realize. It is MegaBloat. In fact the Navy regs specify or did over 35 years ago that it could only last three days and IIRC only at sea but the Captain could sentence you to it while in port to be carried out while underway. Those given it were less likely to repeat offenders. No one sentenced to it thought it a laughing matter after it was over with.

putting an American flag in their cells was just inviting trouble

He got it, now they get it, lesson learned.

You don’t need a rope to escape a one story building. Things are spread OUT, not up.

A little info info Sheriff Joe.

I did 3 days on bread and water while in the Navy, for firing off bottle rockets on a foreign navy base. I was lucky I wasn’t shot by the locals. 3 days wasn’t horrible but I had a feeling that any longer and it would have been a LOT worse. The last meal the last day was just...bad.
