Boehner must decide on immigration (3-Day GOP Amnesty Retreat starts today)
The Hill ^ | 1/29/14 | Russell Berman

Posted on 01/29/2014 5:42:32 AM PST by jimbo123

The release of House Republican principles on immigration reform this week will ignite a contentious debate within the GOP, forcing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to make a series of crucial decisions in the coming months.

Boehner and other senior members are planning to present the document at the House GOP’s annual retreat on Thursday in Cambridge, Md., and the reaction of the rank and file will likely determine how aggressively the leadership will press the issue during an election year.

But if GOP leaders do move forward, they would do so with a series of discrete bills rather than the kind of comprehensive measure the Senate passed in June. The principles are not expected to be long or overly detailed, but they will mark a major shift for the House GOP leadership by endorsing legalization, under certain conditions, for millions of immigrants in the country illegally.

Thanx ... my letter;

My Filipina wife is stuck in limbo after doing everything according to the book

USCIS has been "investigating" her since October 2012, a window open much longer than the 90 days advised on the USCIS

Do you think I should vote for your re-election if you vote to grant ILLEGAL immigrants ANY form of amnesty for ANY reason ?

Please advise

and of course I left full contact information

I agree we need to fix our immigration system NOW.
Deport Congress and POTUS.

Elect Mickey Mouse or the guy on the street.

They can do better.

Paul Ryan on MSNBC pitching immigration right now.

He is pitching plan that sounds like it would be DOA to Dems.
He’s talking fast as usual, but it doesn’t sound like anything that they would accept.

Then he dodged Chuck Todds followup question on details, says he’s not ready to talk about that.
cant trust him at all.

"I hate to say it, but this is a done deal."

I am afraid I have to agree with you. The only question is does Amnesty pass before the election or during the lame duck session. Twenty some Republicans and the Democrat caucus would have the votes to put it over the top. GOP? or Dem?, pretty much the same.

"I swear, they have no sense of strategy."

The GOP is the Stupid Party. They earned that name over decades of stupidity.

Ryan’s goal is to get the House bills into conference with the Senate. Then they’ll be “fixed” by the RATS and RINOS in the Senate and the conference passed by the House with 25 or so GOP votes and 100% of the RATS.

Ryan is a fast talker.
I thought he said NO amnesty at all until the border is secured, which has been promised before by Rubio.
then he dodged further questions, typical teasers.

I dont believe anything Ryan says but I figured I would mention it.

As if there is any doubt how the traitorous coward collaborator John Boehner is going to decide.

You know, back during the Bush II years, Congress passed a law authorizing a completely fenced off southern border....physical and/or electronic.

That hasn’t been funded or completed, despite the constant growth of the welfare state.

Now from my reading of the Constitution, the Congress and the states are supposed to protect and maintain the integrity of our national borders.

Let Boehner start with that, and then worry about the path to citizenship later.

The GOP is on a suicide watch.

If they decide to support "immigration reform" they have pulled the trigger.

They will have blown the golden opportunity to save America, the Constitution, their base, and their Party all together in 2014 for a bowl of watery, cold, dog poop soup they get to beg for at the Democrat table.

When Boehner sells America out four things will happen in this order: A) the Republican Party will begin to collapse and finally disappear (The Whigs laugh at this one) B) America will be slammed into catastrophic disorder as millions of greedy new Democrats merely stroll over our southern border, C) the Catholic Church in America’s death spiral will begin. The new Democrats will vote for the very people who want to destroy the Catholic Church and will do just that when they are 350 in the House and 72 in the Senate. D) the “too smart by half scumbags in the Chamber of Commerce will see short term benefit until they are forced to unionize all their workers who will then drive up prices so high that no one will buy their products. All of this will be the fault Boehner and the Republicans and I will never vote Republican again.

If the GOPe allows any sort of legalization to pass there will be no reason for a conservative to continue voting. 20-50 million new dirt poor illiterate voters in the next decade will ALWAYS vote for an expanded state, they will NEVER be swayed by appeals to individual initiative and rugged individualism.

It'll be game, set, match for the Statists.

And I and many others will curse this corrupt gang of republicans till the day we die.

Thanks for your open letter - I copied it and sent it (with a couple of slight revisions) to Lamar Smith. I know that he’s on the right side (no pun intended) of this question, but let him know in no uncertain terms that my vote, and that of my (formerly Mexican, now citizen) wife are not a lock for him or anyone else in the GOP if this POS bill gets passed with any GOP help. I made it clear that either a comprehensive bill or some piecemeal POS that did the same thing after some legislative shenanigans would be the end of the GOP.

I hope it works - but many tens of thousands of us have to write to or call Congress SOON to do anything about this.

You’re welcome. Anyone who wants to use it is free to.

In fact, a good use would be to fax it to the Hyatt where they’re meeting. The fax number is back at the begining of this thread. Just address it to Hyatt Regency, Attn: [your congressman].
