Now we know why Rand Paul has endorsed Mitch McConnell (Vanity)
March 18, 2014 | Din Maker

I just found out some information today that enlightened me as to why Rand Paul has endorsed Mitch McConnell. McConnell's Campaign Manger, Jesse Benton, is part of the Paul family. He is married to Ron Paul's grand daughter and Rand Paul's niece. I wonder if Mitch hiring Rand's nephew-in-law was part of the deal for Rand's endorsement? This is what Benton told the Huffington Post:

"I believe in Senator McConnell and am 100 percent committed to his re-election. Being selected to lead his campaign is one of the great honors of my life and I look forward to victory in November of 2014."

Well, that answers a lot of questions.

The GOP IS our biggest enemy. Not Obama. Not the Democrat MarxoFascists.

The traitors within our own ranks who are leading us into dictatorial despotism.

McConnell is running ads non-stop here trashing Bevin. MASSIVELY trashing Bevin and the Senate Conservatives Fund.

That McConnell has announced his victory in the primary here is exactly as I suspected in terms of the Cook County Machine fixing every election with national consequences.

It is amazing to me that a state that put Rand Paul into office over the RINO, would vote an Obama-enabling leader such as McConnell in the primary. It stinks like Cook County again.

Spoken like a democrat. You do understand how the Republic works? You cannot advance an agenda without controlling a majority? Controlling the majority requires alliances? Those who refuse to support a conservative alliance are nothing more than 0bama enablers. Those who stay home and allow liberals to win elections are worse than any RINO...

McConnell endorsed Rand Paul.

Rand Paul is perhaps merely repaying that courtesy?

If that is the reason to support McConnell, it is a good one.
We do not want to lose Kentucky like we blew sure wins in Indiana with Mourdock, Missouri with Todd Akin, Delaware with O’Donnell, Nevada with Sharon Angle.

Winner of election takes it all!
Losers have zero power to change anything.

Isn’t it pretty much SOP for one Senator from a State to give some tacit endorsement of the other?

I don’t think Rand went so far out on the Mitch limb so as to actually help him defeat the Primary contender.

Cruz more or less held off endorsing any one in any Primary.

Conservatives here are NOT voting for McConnell in the general.

Hey, that's their privilege, but if they then utter one word of complaint about Harry Reid for the next two years, they will have earned a good kick in the nutsack.

Were I in Kentucky, I would certainly campaign and vote for Bevin. But if he does not win the nomination, absolutely no way I would sit back and let the Dem have the seat.

The Taxed Enough Party did not blow Delaware nor Indiana.

You are one dim witted conservative.

He's not a conservative, he's just a Republican.

Paul has already said he was asked to endorse McConnell before there was any opposition.

I’m so sick and tired of hearing that crap. If that’s true, then the little curly-haired twerp is more stupid than I thought he was. But, it’s not true. It’s a freakin’ lie. He could always change his endorsement once a candidate more a kin to his political philosophy entered the race. Nope. As we say down here in Texas: “That ol; dog won’t hunt.” He’s a lying, little sack of s**t.

I don’t think this is a big deal

Really? Well, here’s my analogy: Mitch McConnell is like the lying, cheating husband whose wife has given him chance after chance. Finally, she just doesn’t give a s**t; she just wants him gone. And to make it worse, the one she thought was her friend, becomes “the other woman” (Rand Paul) and takes up with the man she had who was unfaitfulh to her. Now, she feels betrayed by both. And, she’s through with both of them and they can both go to hell.

Interesting that you left Ted Cruz off the list. Senator Cruz is actually trying to change things for the better, but is being cut off at the knees by the likes of McConnell.

Matt Bevin is no Mourdock, Akin, O’Donnell or Angle. He is a competent, qualified and capable candidate. Those four were idiots.

No! As you said, Ted Cruz did NOT endorse John Cornyn.

Walker/Cruz, makes Cruz
President of the Senate.
may not work; it also "effectively isolates" him, too...therefore, it won't fly..
what's needed is an very strong/effective Senate Ldr., willing/able to launch a full throated attack on pResident 0'BlahBlah

Right. Paul has been going moderate on some stances and issues and comments over the past several months. No wonder some libertarians would rather support others than Rand. No wonder tea party is confused on him. he is hypocritical. And all over the map.

First of all, endorsements don’t mean a whole lot and probably mean even less to incumbents than challengers but for people like Rand Paul and Rick Perry to NOT endorse the challenger probably helps McConnell more than the endorsement does.

A shrewd politician builds up favors owed and then cashes them at election time. No doubt McConnell has done something in the past for both and now wants his payback.

This is politics, folks. This is how it works. If it disgusts you, I’m sorry but it is the real world.

A guy like Ted Cruz that doesn’t endorse Cornyn is why he’s despised by colleagues. Others will remember that he failed their loyalty tests. In Cruz’ case, he’s betting his populism will trump his lack of “playing along” but it is a very risky strategy. Washington can be a vicious place when nobody stands up for you.
