New Theory Sees Possible Fire on Missing Jet

A new theory claims that a fire broke out aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and the crew was doing what it could to save passengers and themselves

As the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 enters its twelfth day, conspiracy theories and suggestions of foul play are giving way to the idea that a fire broke out onboard and the crew were simply doing everything they could to save the passengers and themselves.

That theory, first floated by Chris Goodfellow, a pilot with 20 years of experience, holds that a fire on board the aircraft caused the pilots to set course for the nearest viable airport. Heading back to Kuala Lumpur would have meant traversing 8,000-foot ridges. A much more feasible option would have been the 13,000-foot runway at Pulau Langkawi, a destination which would correspond with the new route the aircraft appeared to have followed.

Once the course had been altered, the fire could have melted electronic wire bundles, causing cyanide gas to be pumped through the cockpit and cabin, rendering everyone unconscious (oxygen masks don’t help since cyanide gas can be absorbed through the skin), and leaving the aircraft heading along its path until it ran out of fuel.

[snip]

The fire scenario could also explain the loss of communication systems. Either the pilots started killing electrical busses in order to contain the fire, or an electrical fire caused the gradual collapse of various systems on board.

“Taking busses offline is a big process, and it may leave you without computer and navigational instruments,” says Rodger, who believes it is more likely that a fire took down the aircraft’s communication systems.

Plausible. Still need a debris field.

Prayers up for all concerned.

Israel thinks Iran though.

And I think Mossad is on to something for them to announce it as they have.

Plausible deniability. Ridiculous.

The pilots could’ve been unaware of the fire until it had already compromised the wiring

**************************

One of his main points was that the left turn was made because of a fire .... heading for the nearest suitable airport. The air strip that lined up with the new lat/long heading keyed into the FMS had an over water approach - the airport of origin had a couple of ridges to fly over that could have been problematic with a crippled plane.

Actually it means that the new westerly course was programmed into the computer atleast 12 minutes earlier — not that they were already on that course.

The question is whether the complex maneuvers over the Straits of Malacca putting it on a northwesterly heading were also programmed into the computer at that time or done manually a half hour later.

So how does a burning jet fly for 7 hours...

The pilots are doing everything possible to turn anything other than the obvious fact the air crew is involved..

Isn’t the latest news now that he commented BEFORE they changed course and not AFTER?

Yes that is what Malaysian officials are now saying but they are also pointing out that the course change was entered into the computer atleast 12 minutes before he said Good Night.

So the course change was premeditated and not the result of any fire or smoke or flight calamity.

So when the co-pilot calmly said to the air traffic controller “Alright, goodnight” 12 minutes after the plane changed its course, this was during a raging fire in the cabin?

Ice water running through his veins.

there are lots of possible stories. But the most likely one is that the pilot committed suicide and took the crew and passengers with him. (his wife took their kids and left him the day before—too big a coincidence)

If there was a fire, it wouldn’t have been able to fly that long. I say BS.

Yes, his wife leaving him (if that’s true) plus his political ally being jailed and accused of sodomy.. Perhaps Zaharie wanted to screw his country by inflicting a multi-million dollar loss of an aircraft and embarrassing Malaysia with it’s mystery loss.

My latest theory (as opposed to 10 minutes ago) is that someone was hiding in the equipment bay of that aircraft, disengaged ACARS circuit breakers, transponders, etc., then went up into cockpit with a knife and commandeered the pilots actions under threat.

Prove I'm wrong. LOL

Airline pilots have known this all along. Once the door closes, we can go anywhere for which we have fuel. It’s OK though. Think of it this way, we’ve had your lives in our hands all along, even if you thought differentially. Most of us can be completely trusted as we have demonstrated for over 100 years of commercial aviation.

but a course change preceding last verbal contact is hard to explain with that.

If that is what happened. Everyone is giving the "new sources" too much credit.

Actually it means that the new westerly course was programmed into the computer atleast 12 minutes earlier — not that they were already on that course.

Flawed logic when CNN, and FOX (below) clearly stated it was indeed on its new course:

"The Malaysia Airlines flight that vanished nearly two weeks ago was already 12 minutes into its diverted course when the plane's co-pilot calmly told air traffic controllers that things were "all right," former FAA spokesman Scott Brenner said Tuesday on "The Kelly File."

Fox

The timeline:

0107 - Last ACARS activity and appears likely when course change made.

== Twelve minutes later ==

0119 - "Good night"

0121 - Transponder off.

There’s no way that is correct, and it’s very obvious. Not sure why they would report that.

Any turns prior to the transponder cutoff would be seen clearly by ATC, and we would see them on FlightRadar24.

ATC would not let a flight plan deviation go without questioning it.

We do not see any westerly turn on FlightRadar24.

12 minutes before 1:19 would be 1:07.

MH-370 is still over land at that time. So the turn would have been over land.

No way.
