Is Harry Reid Involved? Seven Answers to Seven Questions
The Blaze ^ | April 13, 2014 | Becket Adams

Government officials retreated Saturday from federal property in Gold Butte, Nev., leaving behind some 389 “trespass cattle” that had been impounded as the result of a decades-long dispute between a local rancher and the U.S. government.

But while the story has managed to capture the attention of thousands of Americans, it has also managed to confuse thousands more. Indeed, from questions regarding property rights to whether a Democratic senator was involved in the cattle roundup, many have been left wondering what it’s all about and searching for the facts.

[snip] Does Sen. Harry Reid have a connection to the Bureau of Land Management?

[snip] 6. Is Harry Reid working with the Chinese to force the Bundys out?

[snip] 5. So Who Owns the Land in Question?

The problem is not the rancher, or his land.

It is the EPA and the cows. The company that wants to use the government owned land for solar power can’t use it if cows are running loose on it.

The EPA is the ‘left’s’ most prized asset. They can’t just break their own ‘rules’ and ‘laws’ to allow this solar plant to go into effect. The greenies would freak out. The fortunes of many politicians who stand to gain from this sell-off to foreign companies would be affected.

So... the cows gotta go. That is what it was about, that is why they went after the cows and tried to round them all up.

Good afternoon.

As far as I know, I was first to link Kornze to Reid and solar land set asides (Tortoise kill zones I think I phrased it).

Yes, and FReeper Ray 76 exposed Reid, Rory, and the Chicom connection.

We (FR) got some attributions, but this site broke it wide open.

Is Harry Reid Involved? Seven Answers to Seven Questions

The Koch brothers should get an army of private investigators on this, and then provide it to the few REAL journalists left, "Depp Throat" style! I'd love to see Harry disgraced and incarcerated!

That is incorrect. The US Government can own land according to Article 1 section. Lets look at the actual article.

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings

The land in question is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation area with includes Hover Dam, Lake Mead, several docks, repair facilities, power generation and distribution, roads, a coast guard auxiliary, marinas, and lots of other maintenance and administrative facilities.

In this case, there is an additional part of the Constitution called the Treaty clause from Article II section 2, clause 2 that comes into play. The reason that this is valid is that the US Government obtained ownership of the land via the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo at the end of the US Mexico war.

It was after this war and subsequent treaty, that Nevada became a state. And in the state's constitution, it specifically refutes any ownership of the lands in question. This satisfies the consent of the legislature requirement.

So constitutionally speaking, there is no infringement by the US government for owning the land.

I don’t trust Glenn Beck anymore. He’s too erratic. And acts a part he isn’t. I don’t think he knows what he is.

Assuming, arguendo, that is correct, let’s return to the topoi of the thread and the real issue:
Who gave Rory Reid authorization to sell a license to the Chinese, and presumably pocket a fat commission?
His father?
Since (clearing throat) *we* are the US government, maybe we should have been apprised of this before harrumphing `Hedley’ Reid and his pa hired a federal agency to run the Bundys off land they have been using for three generations.

Teapot Dome!

I’m willing to bet that nobody in Nevada makes dirty money without Harry’s hand in it somehow.

After the hero of Benghazi was elected, Reid had him shut down Yucca Mountain. This kept the challenges to nuke power going and Harry’s kid will benefit from solar.

“Who gave Rory Reid authorization to sell a license to the Chinese, and presumably pocket a fat commission?
His father?”

Also if the land was Federal, why did they need the Clark County commission to sign off on it and for under appraisal?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3143479/posts

“ENN scored big when Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million.”

Other needful buildings? Which buildings? If you refer to the dam. Then since that falls within other needful buildings, which it does, then you are correct. But, ALL the lands that border that man MADE lake, are in fact, the state of Nevadas, and the State of Arizona. The states created this government and not the other way around.

The treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo is invalid in this case since the enumerated power is in fact superior. The state of Nevada was declared by Lincoln, to garner votes for his re-election as well as other purposes. Once Nevada became a state, ALL that land belongs to the state. If not, then all states are in fact territorial and hold NO constitutional bases for existence.

What is it now? 7th or 8th in ranking for gold and silver worldwide?

Few people understand this.

I disagree with your set of questions. My questions are:

Who legally owns the land?
Does the owner get to decide how that land is to be used?
Does the owner get to decide to alter the terms of the agreement during renewal?
Does the owner get to charge a fee for the use of their land?
Does the owner get to evict someone who is not paying for use of that land?
Has the US Government been collecting rents (grazing fees) on this land before Bundy was born and before Ried was even elected?
Did Bundy stop paying his legally required (Taylor Grazing act) grazing fees of his own free will?
Did any politician (much less Ried) force Bundy to stop paying his grazing fees?

The state of Nevada constitution specifically ceded the land to the government:

http://www.leg.state.nv.us/Const/NvConst.html

Under the first paragraph of the Ordinance section, Third item.

But as to the lands in question, you assert that some of the lands and thus by inference, the 600,000 acres in question belong to the State of Nevada. I have not seen any proof or indication of such. Please, if you have such documentation or citation, provide it so it can be researched and discussed.

They constitutionally could NOT give that land to the US Government. They need to amend that portion of their state constitution.
That is, unless they fail to recognize the US Constitution.

So you are for a US Senator taking any land for his personal advancement then?
