Martial Law: Obama Confiscates National Guard Helicopters From All 50 States

As if the Obama administration's purchase of more than 2 billion rounds of ammunition, and nearly 3,000 urban tanks, along with their unprecedented (and highly illegal) domestic spying program was not enough to convince you that the federal government is about to suspend the Constitution once and for all, the man who once vowed to run "the most transparent administration in history" has just rather inexplicably, ordered the U.S. Army to seize every Apache attack helicopter currently in use by the National Guard.

In all, the Defense Department will confiscate 192 Apaches from National Guard units around the country and give them to the active duty Army.

In exchange for the heavily armed and highly maneuverable choppers, Guard units will receive 111 UH-60 Blackhawk transport helicopters from the Army, Defense One reports.

Last week, U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee, claiming that the measure will save taxpayers $12 billion, over the next three years.

"Why does the National Guard need Apaches?"

Uh, 'cause plenty of NG Troops are shipped overseas to do the job the Regular Army used to do all of?

Liberals always telegraph their fears. First, they scrapped the National Guard's A-10s. Now, they are sequestering their Apaches.

Can anyone say, "Vulnerable DHS MRAPs"?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Obviously 0b0z0 & Holder know on whose side the National Guard will stand when it hits the fan. And they expect that time to be soon.
Now might be a good time to establish good contact with your friends, relatives, and colleagues who are now on active duty... 0b0z0 may have "turned" some of their leaders, but the troops mostly despise him and all he stands for...
The national guard is almost like the army reserve.
They train on apache’s. Most of the national guard have served at least some time in iraq and afghanistan.
I think the guard also trains on abrams tanks.
Our local NG group has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan several times over the last 13 years or whatever it is. (246th Transportation Battalion - Jackson, MI)
I'm not a reactionary or one who gets off into conspiracy theory's but this sure seems like a move to make sure the sates can not protect themselves against the feds. That brings about the question of "why would we have to protect ourselves against the federal government?"
The obvious answer is that our president intends to be presidnet for life.
For the first time I'm starting to believe that obama intends to rule our nation by force as a dictator.
Kind of scary the way this is all going. When you add in how he has purged the military leadership it is all starting to become very clear.
I do not want this to happen and I hate how this is all playing out but that is where logic takes us.
Now it is not too hard to see where all the ammunition has been going the last couple of years. They have succeeded in keeping the vast majority out of the hands of the populace. That was their goal. The important question is not where it whet, but where it did not go.
Add it up folks, it isn't looking good.
Moving things from active to Guard and vice-versa is a normal activity.
I seriously doubt they'll be rotated back to the NG in a couple years.
This to me looks like a way to keep from buying additional choppers by dipping into the reserves.
The Army is doing a huge aviation reorganization. One of the things they are doing is getting rid of Kiowas. They are going to try to do the scout role with Apaches instead. Yeah, I know that is two totally different classes of helicopters, but that is their story. Sounds like they want to park all their TH-57s and replace them with Lakotas, as well. That is another head scratcher when it comes to saving money.
In addition, why is Obama bringing all the tanks from Germany home? They are giving tanks to very small towns who have no need of them, seems ridiculous.
Which small town, or big city, has received a “tank”?
What about the crews? Will htey be transferred to active duty, retrained as Blackhawk pilots, or pushed out of guard service?
Yup. One of the locals who was in Afghanistan in 2012 before leaving the service said that only a small handful of those with her transportation company are even from this state. After several deployments they've depleted the pool of local people willing to spend years away from their families.
"There are a few governors around the country who would not stand for martial-law being arbitrarily declared by this or any president, but without any teeth (i.e. Apache attack helicopters) what could they use to stop Obama's tyranny?"
Simple, open the armories.
These helicopters are but a small piece.
I'd druther face 192 of them than 10mil very angry American men with good rifles.
You're correct about the Kiowas. When I was at Air Assault School recently they told us of their plans to phase them out. They are good for recon and target painting, but they can't carry sh-t for armament. They're only defensive.
