Reid — once under fire for saying ‘negro’ — condemns rancher for comments

Democratic Senate majority leader Harry Reid on Thursday strongly condemned Cliven Bundy, a constituent and rancher in Nevada, for his widely-reported offensive comments about African-Americans.

“Today, Bundy revealed himself to be a hateful racist,” Reid said in a statement provided by his office.

The New York Times reported on a recent rant by Bundy, who mused about what he referred to as “the Negro.” He has been in the news recently over his clash with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing fees.

Discussing a public-housing project in Nevada, Bundy said of black people: “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

A number of politicians, including Reid, criticized Bundy for his comments.

“To advance his extreme, hateful views, Bundy has endangered the lives of innocent women and children,” the Nevada senator said.

Corrupt old bastard is a hypocritical, lying POS.

Your standard Model 101 Democrat, in other words.

I think this is good.

A lot of this has gone ridiculously overboard.

I believe this is a wash, maybe even a loss for Reid.

If it weren’t for double standards, some people would have no standards whatsoever.

When in doubt, call someone a racist. Making someone look bad always makes yourself look good by comparison.

Reid, when the afterlife comes, I want to get permission from God to see you in hell, burning for eternity. I want to savor your pain, and revel in your anguish. Your tortured cries will nourish me. I want to enjoy your bloody shrill screams, each one like a musical note in a beautiful opera of pain.

Since when did "negro" become a pejorative? Take a trip to Vine Street in Kansas City and visit the Negro Baseball League Museum. You can't have it both ways.

100% of hispanics use "negro" because that is the word in Spanish for "black".

Sorry, WHOREHOUSE HARRY, but the rancher is 1) honest, 2) has earned every penny he’s worth, 3) actually has done work in his life, and 4) is worth praise and respect.

You, on the other hand, are a worthless POS who has no talent, is uglier than h*ll, and are at the very least an unconvicted felon.

So, shove your ideas up your very old wrinkled Obamahole and STFU.

I hope to find your grave someday and take a bodacious Obama on it.

What about those “Negro beans” we buy at the grocery store for great recipes? Why is that OK?

What the heck is wrong with that word? It means black. So what?

The whole Bundy topic of the black in this country was no doubt provoked so this would become the new topic to show he is a bad person. NOT going to happen, but a sick media can't stand “we the people” in any way shape or form. Bundy wasn't bright enough perhaps to stay out of that type of conversation.

CNN this morning right about 8:00AM CDT had an interview with him and the guy (who??) was rude, nasty and condemned Bundy for the use of Negro. This is a set up to connect Bundy to any Tea Party, Militia or right thinking folks in order for the left to despise and ridicule us, in their small minds. Alynski rules in action. What do you think?

I refuse to use any “-American” descriptor so for be it has always been black or negro.

I do believe Harry and the Left have overreached here.

To me Reid’s comments about Obama being “light skinned with no Negro dialect” are far worse than Bundy’s awkwardly phrased but well meaning gaffe. The only truly offensive speech I’ve heard in this entire situation has been Reid referring to patriotic American citizens as “domestic terrorists”.

While I would have preferred it if Bundy had not bothered to share his notions about race with all of us, none of this has any bearing on the Federal Government trying to use excessive fees to drive ranchers out of business and then sending militarized bureaucrats to threaten American citizens.

This is not a double standard.

This is no standards at all. Harry Reid has plenty of material already accrued that would fully justify an ethics breach investigation, and certainly deserves censure or even expulsion from the Senate for his transgressions.

Does he not recall a person by the name of Jim Wright, once the Speaker of the House, and his fall from grace? Or Dan Rostenkowski, or Jim Traficant?

I never picked cotton either!

I never picked cotton
Like my mother did and my brother did
And my sister did and my Daddy died young
Workin’ in a coal mine

When I was just a baby too little for the cotton sack
I played in the dirt while the others worked
‘Til they couldn’t straighten up their backs
And I made myself a promise when I was old enough to run
That I’d never stay a single day In that Oklahoma sun

And I never picked cotton
Like my mother did and my brother did
And my sister did and my Daddy died young
Workin’ in a coal mine

Folks said that I grew up early and the farm couldn’t hold me then
So I stole ten bucks and a pickup truck and I never went back again
Then it was fast cars and whiskey, long legged girls and fun
I had everything that money could bring and I took it all with a gun

And I never picked cotton
Like my mother did and my brother did
And my sister did and my Daddy died young
Workin’ in a coal mine

It was Saturday night in Memphis when a redneck grabbed my shirt
And he said go back to your cotton sack, I left him lying in the dirt
And they’ll take me in the morning to the gallows just outside
And in the time I’ve got there ain’t a hell of a lot
I can look back on with pride

But I never picked cotton
Like my mother did and my brother did
And my sister did and my Daddy died young
Workin’ in a coal mine
