Not post-racial America
The St. Louis American ^ | May 1, 2014 | Jamala Rogers

Posted on 05/03/2014 1:21:51 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

One good thing about the Obama presidency is that it has completely shattered the myth of a post-racial society in the U.S. Sectors of the country believed (with legitimate optimism) that centuries of white supremacy and institutional racism would be washed away because of a black presidency. Instead, it tore open the scabs on the festering sores of racism in this country.

In many ways, the Obama factor has had the opposite effect – bullets flying off the shelves since the 2008 election in preparation for a race war, an increase in white supremacy groups, openly hostile attacks on black and brown people from the president on down, etc.

All of this despite the fact the President Obama has intentionally avoided issues of race, of acknowledging his blackness and all the ugly realities that go with it to prove he is a president of all the American people. The truth that the president is finally forced to embrace is that no amount of suppression or moderation of race issues wins any points with the right-wingers who control most of the media airwaves and legislative halls.

According to Ronald Kessler, author of “In the President's Secret Service,” the rate of threats against the president increased 400 per cent under Obama from the 3,000 a year or so under President George W. Bush. Some sources say it’s an average of 30 threats a day. And it not just the president – there have been threats directed at first lady Michelle Obama and even daughters Sasha and Malia.

We know about the plan hatched by top Republican leaders on the night of Obama’s inauguration – to take back the House in November 2010 and to make Obama, in the words of Senator Mitch McConnell, a “one-term president.”

Obama was successfully re-elected but the GOP did take back the House and have obstructed most of the president’s program for the country. The number of blocked appointments to government and judicial posts is unprecedented.

Then there’s the barrage of racist slurs, comments and cartoons about the president which black folks understand is also directed at them.

The Cliven Bundys and Donald Sterlings of the world also keep us grounded in the reality of whether or not America is in a post-racial period. While they represent very different economic strata, their opinions about blacks are not that far apart.

Bundy has been leeching off the government for 20 years in unpaid grazing fees. His statements about Negroes “being better off as slaves” fit right in with Sterling’s plantation notion of taking care of his black basketball Clippers: “I … give them food and clothes and cars and houses.”

Let’s agree that the U.S. is not post-racial, a delusion that keeps us from grappling with the real and tangible effects of racism. Let’s put some serious energy into breaking the chains of inequality and injustice, held together by white supremacy, that have our communities in economic and political chokeholds.

I take it Jamala is yet another evil person who lives to chase down whites and hound them for the misfortune to have been born white. Probably gets a real high if the poor white is a child and can be abused, but then again conservatives play that game so they can get PC points from the left.

When did the Amish start naming their kids “Jamal”?

Stop whining and get over it, slavery ended a long time ago and YOU, Mr. “Jamal” are not a slave.

This is the heart of the . . . for want of a better word . . . "argument." ANY political opposition to this President is by definition not just malicious but racist. I think they've sold that to about half the American people too.

In support of his contention, the author cites a curious mix of death threats against the president and his family and political opposition to his agenda.

It's articles like this that make me think Obama ain't leaving in January 2017.

The Cliven Bundys and Donald Sterlings of the world also keep us grounded in the reality of whether or not America is in a post-racial period.

Yep, the existence of private citizens (How many? A thousand? A million? What is the minimum number?) - not elected officials - who use terms which were perfectly respectable forty years ago (Bundy) or who get into (surreptitiously recorded) swearing contests with their concubines (Sterling) is evidence of the fact that America is not yet "post-racial."

No other evidence (outrageous levels of illegitimacy among certain ethnic minorities; disproportionately high incarceration rates for certain ethnic minorities for violent crimes; etc.) is proof enough.

Yes, some people are that stupid. If any person says that Obama has intentionally avoided issues of race, they must be among the dumbest people on the planet.

It has never been about equality. The goal is control and privilege. That is why blacks are so sympathetic toward muslims, of whom they conveniently and blindly forget were and are the greatest slavers.

The Africanized government nobama brought us in some way has done America a favor. That favor being to open the eyes of many blinded by slavery guilt to the reality and real intentions of black culture in America.

True equality would be good for all, but that equality also requires personal responsibility which is difficult to find in America’s black culture.

Slavery was brought to America by those that were the Lords of America, for their own benefit. When we declared our Independence we failed to correct that aristocratic flaw and missed our opportunity to satisfy our Karma Police, to which now we must pay 10 fold.

It has never been about equality

There is the very appropriate adage, "The slave dreams not of freedom, but being the master."

That's the operative motivation here.

Among ordinary Americans, it is a post-racial society. I work with and have been hired by Black Americans. I've sold to, consulted with and bought from Black Americans and Americans of every other color and creed.

There is a racial grievance industry that survives by pushing charges of racism. There's one political party that has spent decades inciting race hatred. This has had success not only in voting, but in poisoning the opinions of those Black Americans in the worst condition of people in this country.

There is no white supremacism. That is just one of many lies of the race hatred inciters. Obama has been the biggest promoter of race hatred in our country, since he appeared on the scene.

20% of this country lives in upsidedownland, where, ahem, white is black and black is white. Where Mumia Abdul Jamal is a hero for fighting the man and George Zimmerman is a white hispanic murderer for saving his own (and probably other) lives.

Obama's policies have caused a rise in unemployment among black men. Instead of being given opportunities, many minorities and other members of the disadvantaged population are given handouts. These empowered, idle youth are using violence toward themselves and others as a substitute for meaningful endeavors. Our world is at constant war and our President's idea of a foreign policy is to wreak havoc in every country that has a leader he doesn't like.

So, yeah, this president has made things worse. But it's his policies, not his color, that intensified the problems urban and now other youth face.
