The White House is waging an all-out assault on religious liberty. Public schools are indoctrinating our children with the gospel of secularism. Hollywood is spewing toxins into our homes. The soundtrack of our lives is a pulsating mix of sex and violence and filth. The American family is in ruins. What was once wrong is now right and what was once right is now wrong.
Our nation stands on a precipice. Freedom hangs in the balance. We live in a postmodern and post-God nation. The perfect storm is brewing. Do not be deceived. There may be a war on religious liberty, but the true target is Christianity.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, and Kelly Shackelford, president of Liberty Institute, penned an open letter to the American people last year. Hostility against religious liberty has reached an all-time high, they warned. The freedom of religion is being pushed out of public life, schools and even churches.
The freedom of religion is being pushed out of public life, schools and even churches.
Our Founding Fathers considered religious liberty our first freedom, and the bedrock upon which all other freedoms rest, the men wrote. They understood that ones right to worship God and follow his conscience according to the principles of his religious faith was foundational to civic tranquility. A man whose religious faith was repressed could never be a loyal citizen since the state was usurping his first allegiance and costing him his primary freedom. This is one of the most important distinctions that makes America an exceptional nation -- if not the most important.
Both groups document more than 600 recent examples of religious hostility. Six hundred. American stories. Our stories. Their documentation included many stories I have covered during my career at Fox News Channel.

Amen Kart, and thanks for the ping.
Its time for a new generation of believers to rise up and restore the dream of our Founding Fathers the dream of a nation where all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. The dream of a people who declare we are still one nation under God."
Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God!
Will He?
At least at the moment, He seems reluctant to do so.
I cannot say I am pleased with the way things are turning out. I am old enough to remember when the country was much different. But an experience from my life reminds me that things can always be worse, and better.
I attend an Albanian Orthodox Church. Before the early 1990’s almost all of the members were people whose families were here before 1945. Not many people got out after that. In 1967 the communists closed all houses of worship in Albania and outlawed all religious expression. When immigrants started to arrive here in the mid-1990’s, I was surprised how well-acqainted many people were with the services and songs of the church. And many of these were younger people who had never known anything but communism. The church went on even after it had completely outlawed.
So the takeaway for me is that God stands by those who remain faithful to Him, and is always around to clean up the mess. I am not afraid of any punks in Washington, who have already forfeited my obedience and loyalty.
Yes, God can bless America, godless or not.
God always waits for the sinners to come to him and ask for forgiveness for their sins.
Can you even imagine a Republican with such gestures. Media would be all over the story.
This nation has killed more babies than all of the people from all countries during WWII. God is no longer giving his blessing to this nation and we are on the cusp of judgement.
The choices you make in your personal life are all that counts now. Focus on your families and relationships. Yes, use your vote, but realize that salvation does not lie in the pubbie party or the triumph of conservatism. Do good and resist evil. Pray for mercy that more may be turned to Christ.
I just pray that He protect His remnant, as He as always done in times past. America deserves every lightning bolt God will strike her with, but I pray the remnant comes out the other side and is restored.
Very well written and inspiring article. Todd Starnes does radio bits in the afternoon during the hours Rush is on. He’s a very talented and witty announcer and writer. He is right. We need patriots to stand up to the bullies and push back against religious intolerance. It’s never too late.
But only for those who believe.
The wrath of God abides right now on those who do not believe:
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)
For those in open rebellion, the reprobate, his wrath is revealed here and now (as George Washington said, god punishes nations in this life).
But is the church really longing for God with true repentance.Just asking.
Indeed. Thanks for the ping, dear brother in Christ!
So if they substituted “in Emmannuel’s name, amen” for Jesus...would they get away with it. How about Yeshua?
See what I’m getting at? Jesus has many names in the Bible.
It’s even more expressive in the original Klingon....okay just joking!
Or even “the Lord God.” But the point is that the world is more and more anti salvation.
It’s Greek to me.
In the name of the star that arose out of Jacob, amen!
In the name of mighty God incarnate, amen!
In the name of Judah’s lion, amen!
Talk about making libs’ heads explode!
I agree that Jesus has many names, but that isn’t really the point. The point is that in a land with a Constitution that tells the government to stay out of religion, that these people are forcing others to follow their brand of religion. Their religion is some kind of neutral mish-mash that they have invented and shoved down the throat of others.
I’ve said that for years as both a military chaplain and as a freeper on these pages.
The Supreme Court and Justice Anthony Kennedy echoed that (finally) in their ruling about prayer at a town council. Kennedy said that the government shouldn’t be re-writing people’s prayers. That specific prayer using Jesus’ name is just fine so long as everyone gets a shot at a turn to pray.
So, we should stand and insist that we’re not watering anything down just to slip it past the censors. (At the same time, mdmathis6, if someone WANTS to pray as you have suggested, then that’s entirely different. They can certainly do that.)
Kennedy’s opinion the other day was a breath of fresh air, though.
Thanks for the info, Girlene. I am an occasional listener to Rush. I’ll have to pay attention for Todd Starnes. I’m really impressed by his writing here. As we preachers are fond of saying, “This will preach!”
