Why does the Department of Agriculture need submachine guns?
American Thinker ^ | 05/15/2014 | Thomas Lifson

Those federal bureaucrats who can’t be fired want to be able to defend themselves from angry taxpayers.  Or something.  AWR Hawkins reports for Breitbart:

A May 7th solicitation by the U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks "the commercial acquisition of submachine guns [in] .40 Cal. S&W."

According to the solicitation, the Dept. of Agriculture wants the guns to have an "ambidextrous safety, semiautomatic or 2 round [bursts] trigger group, Tritium night sights front and rear, rails for attachment of flashlight (front under fore group) and scope (top rear), stock collapsible or folding," and a "30 rd. capacity" magazine.

They also want the submachine guns to have a "sling," be "lightweight," and have an "oversized trigger guard for gloved operation."

But of course those feds have our best interests at heart, so there's nothing to worry about. And those efforts to disarm us are for our own benefit.

Actually, a FReeper sent me this mail by way of explanation:

A big part is because they run the US Forest Service, and many clandestine meth labs and illegal alien smuggling operations are set up in National Forests. People would be surprised at how many investigations and special operations are conducted each year by the USDA.

Sadly, the USDA has largely morphed into a welfare agency lately, with most of its budget going to “foodstamps”. But even other than that, it has a broad mission beyond ears of corn.

I received the same message.

I wonder why they wouldn’t coordinate with other agencies/local officials who are actually tasked with enforcement of applicable laws.

The GOP House and Senate should create a contract with America and item 1 on the list should be to disarm all domestic government agencies except for: FBI, parts of Justice Department, and a small part of Treasury. I can’t think of any other agency that needs to be armed.

And have them give up the Capitol Police force? Good luck on that one.

Got this via FReepmail from a lurker:

(No, I don’t work for them. :-)

And any weapons and ammo removed from the other departments are to be sold in the private market.

***You never hear about government lackeys starving in totalitarian regimes when the rest of the sheeple are eating from dumpsters and landfills.***

During the Siege of Leningrad a composer is called in by the Politbureau to compose a symphony to life the spirits of the starving population.
He said the first thing he smelled when he entered the door was FOOD! The politbureau members were fat while the city starved.
He got his orders to compose the symphony and left. He said they didn’t even offer him a bite of the food.

I can understand the questioning of other federal departments but considering that the Forest Service is under the Department of Agriculture, and given that the Forest Service Police is responsible for protection in national forests, and given the amount of illegal marijuana cultivation that goes on in these remote sites, then it’s understandable that they might want to be able to outgun the drug dealers.

Then afterwards, Stalin had most of the heroes of the Seige of Leningrad killed.

It is fact that meth labs and pot growing is done in the national forests. The forest rangers have to patrol many miles of forest without backup.

I think that instead of calling in a team of a few people with no knowledge of the area to eradicate the lab or the crop, it would be best to work in conjunction with the local Sheriff’s office.

The Sheriff’s office is responsible for investigating all crimes in its jurisdiction. It also has the manpower to take down the criminals if they are in the vicinity.

“Because when the SHTF they can seize the food supply to feed the bureaucratic elites. You never hear about government lackeys starving in totalitarian regimes when the rest of the sheeple are eating from dumpsters and landfills.”

I think you hit the nail right on the head.

For the coming martial law order after 2014 elections. Does anyone honestly believe that Barry Hussein Soetoro is going to voluntarily leave the WH on Jan 20, 2017? You are very naive if you subscribe to honesty by this thug administration.

“A big part is because they run the US Forest Service, and many clandestine meth labs and illegal alien smuggling operations are set up in National Forests.”

Sounds good, but I don't believe it. Connecting the dots of everything that's been going on the past fiveyears, and it simply doesn't pass the smell test.

For one thing, virtually every power broker in gov’t and business wants the illegals here to work and vote. Didn't obama just order the release of some 36,000 criminals here illegally? Next, those same people want drug legalization, beginning with pot. It won't stop there. Illicit drugs create apathy and selfishness, a combination that makes us ripe for the NWO.

Tell your friend it was a nice try anyway.

I suppose the Forest Service has some people who are routinely armed.

Yes. The Forest Service has their own law enforcement personnel.

By-the-by, because I live in the west, and have dealt with these agencies before, just a little clarification - the Bureau of Land Management is an agency under the Department of the Interior (same for the National Park Service). The Forest Service is an agency under the Department of Agriculture.

Congress should also force the donation or sell of all that ammo to private citizens. Then watch the lefties heads split.

Then they should call the local authorities to deal with it.

This arming of every federal agency is out of control.
