Pope Francis Against Gay Adoption: ‘Every Person Needs a Male Father and a Female Mother
CNSNews.com ^ | May 21, 2014 | Michael W. Chapman

...The Pope has rejected the idea of same-sex marriage as an “anthropological regression” and stressed that when it comes to adoption, “every person needs a male father and a female mother.”

Pope Francis explained his views on these hot-button issues in his book, On Heaven and Earth: Pope Francis on Faith, Family, and the Church in the Twenty-First Century, which he co-wrote with Rabbi Abraham Skorka in 2010 and which was republished after the then-Argentine cardinal was elected to the papacy in March 2013.

The book is a dialogue between Skorka and the future Pope and includes a chapter on same-sex marriage, which is where the pontiff also talks about adoption.

Skorka first explains that Judaism “prohibits sexual relations between two men” and then expresses worry about how a proposed gay-marriage law in Argentina could change “the core values of our society.”

Pope Francis (then-Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio) says, “I have the exact same opinion; in order to define it I would use the expression ‘anthropologic regression,’ a weakening of the [marriage] institution that is thousands of years old and that was forged according to nature and anthropology.”

“We know that in times of momentous change the homosexual phenomenon grew, but in this period it is the first time that the legal problem of assimilating it to marriage has arisen, and this I consider an anti-value and an anthropological regression,” says the Pope. “I say this because it transcends the religious issue, it is anthropological.”

“If there is a union of a private nature, there is neither a third party nor is society affected,” he writes. “Now, if the union is given the category of marriage and they are given adoption rights, there could be children affected.”

“Every person needs a male father and a female mother that can help them shape their identity,” says Pope Francis.

Explaining further, he says, “It is often argued that a child would be better cared for by a same-sex couple rather than in an orphanage or an institution. Those two situations are not optimal. The problem is that the State does not do what it has to do."

“They should streamline the procedure of adoption, which are never-ending, so that these children can have a home,” says the pontiff. “One failure of the State does not justify another failure of the State. The underlying issue must be addressed. More than a marriage law so that people of the same sex can adopt, we have to improve the adoption laws, which are excessively bureaucratic and, in their current implementation, encourage corruption.”

As they were chanting on the streets in the Paris "Manif pour Tous" (Demonstration for All):

Un Pere,
Une Mere,
C'est elementaire!!"

One father,
One mother,
It's elementary!

How sad this even needs to be said. Pope Francis is on solid Biblical footing here and WE ALL need to defend him whenever and where ever he is criticized.

And you know the homosexual thugs will sharpen up their long knives, along with their enablers in the msm.

Male Father and female mother? So when are priests going to be allowed to marry? If they want to be known as “Father” then they should recognize their role/duty.

“It is often argued that a child would be better cared for by a same-sex couple rather than in an orphanage or an institution.

Even if these were the only choices, it would still be better for a child to be in a properly-run institution than exposed to perversion.

However, this is a false dichotomy. In societies in which adoption is a normal occurrence and organized foster-parent programs exist, normal families are available for the majority of children. It is the government which imposes false barriers, such as racial matching or excessive economic demands.

It is better for a child to live in relative poverty - sharing a room with several siblings, like at my house - in a normal family, than to have every economic advantage but lack a married mother and father.

It's so obvious only the deviant could argue with that. That's the way God made us.

Don’t you love the way his holiness teases the libs. One moment he’s talking of income inequalty and the left goes, yeah, yeah, yeah. Then he pulls the rug from under them when he reiterates that marriage should be between a man and woman and children should be raised by a mother and a father. Before Pope Francis reign ends the libs are gonna go schizophrenic.

Did Jesus not call God "Father"?

When did God get married? Or does He not recognize His role/duty?!?

That being said, I think priests should be able to marry. Or not marry. But whatever the case, they should be men, in every moral sense of the word.

(Caveat: I'm not Catholic anymore, so take all of the above with a grain of salt.)

How long before the left turns on the Pope?

Before Pope Francis reign ends the libs are gonna go schizophrenic.

The problem is that with his widely varying words, it isn't just the libs in the Church that Francis is affecting.

My Christ said "Let your 'yes' be yes, your 'no' be no."

If Francis is going to act as the holder of the keys to Heaven, he should learn to love this lesson Christ gave us.

You don’t need a biology degree to work out that kids need a mother and a father.

How sad this even needs to be said. No kidding. Lately, I've heard otherwise intelligent people saying that its wrong to talk definitively about gender and how men or women "ought to be". Absolute madness--this will not end well.

Ooops. All the left wing einsteins in the media who gushed over a Pope they thought was "modern" are now weeping and gnashing their teeth.

Orphanages and "institutions" are not what the usual ignoramus thinks they are. The uninformed pictures David Copperfield, when the truth is far more humane and indeed salutary compared to a string of half-assed county foster parents and/or a couple of homosexuals bent on doing who knows what.

That would certainly rout out the queers, now wouldn't it.

God is unique in His role as Creator. He is ,in a sense, Father of everything.
My point is the irony of the Pope urging the importance of the father/mother relationship but denies it in his own "club". I would think it hypocritical but I'm not Catholic so take it with a grain of salt as well.
