How odd that generations of other minorities/ethnic backgrounds have risen from nothing with the opportunity that a free United States provided-- and prospered.

Then pay them the difference: African_networth - American_networth.

New evangelism will be needed. Yes, this means that white people might (probably will) have to go some second miles. But this ought to be private, not governmental.
If a political sphere help for this needed to be done, I’d suggest a radical change to the tax rules. Instead of tax DEDUCTIONS for such things as evangelistic charity, make them tax CREDITS. To make everyone happy, this could be explicitly “religion blind.” It would not matter if it was secular or atheistic or Jewish or Muslim or Christian charity. Of course a huge helping of humble pie would have to be eaten by government in order to get it to where it would admit that social programs can be done better by volunteers.

The WaPo opinion page has a mention of this article, and the comments there are truly hilarious, from the confirmed agents of the plantation handout federals, down to the really ticked off whites and blacks who say this no way to go and is unsustainable and as such is some other agenda— namely Cloward Piven and the Comintern playbook from the 50s and 60s to perpetuate the wedge issue of class/race warfare for the greater good of the chaos it would cause.
I think the USA tried to correct its sins and restore people to their homeland with an experiment called “Liberia” a hundred years ago

If I recall correctly, there was a rally in favor of reparations a few years ago. And some singer sang “The Reparations Rap”. And the chorus of the song goes: “I want my mon-eee, I want my mon-eee”.
These people are absurd. Yet because we are so politically correct and afraid of being called racist, we are supposed to treat these people with respect and listen to their point of view as if they deserve a respectful hearing.
Can’t wait to hear if Obama ever weighs in on this.
It’s 2014 for the love of God, the issue of slavery was settled long before anyone alive was born. Talking about reparations today is as silly as talking about compensating former-slaveholders for unconstitutionally depriving them of property.
If we’re going to start a crusade to correct injustices suffered by persons long-since-dead, and punish living people for the actions of persons long-dead that may or may not have been related... well then I’ve got some civil suits I’d like to file against the U.K. and the Vatican. Many people alive might have standing under those rules to challenge modern-day Italy for the actions of the Roman Empire and Republic before it.
Interesting that this Reparations issue should come up at this time.
It may well signal that the commies believe that they can push something like this through, either with Obama in office or with Hilary. The real question is how can they do it without Congress. Or perhaps they can take Congress.
Either way, if Reparations for da’ Black Man gets passed, it will be the ultimate ruination of the US; we will witness it passing into something that more resembles the South Africa of North America, which I’ve noted is the dream of the likes of Melissa Harris-Perry and her following.
