A new poll released by Chism Strategies on the Republican runoff for U.S. Senate shows a statistical dead heat between incumbent Thad Cochran and challenger Chris McDaniel.
In the Chism poll, Cochran now leads with 48 percent with 47 percent for McDaniel, within the margin of error of 3.3 percent.
The statewide poll was conducted Friday night among 821 households and only included voters who voted in the June 3 Republican primary. The runoff election is June 24.
Chism raises the following key questions in the "observations" section of the poll:
-- Will traditional "general election Republicans" in university towns, the shipyards and military base communities where Cochran underperformed in the primary adequately respond to this appeal?
-- Will the reminders about Cochran's longevity and power in Washington energize McDaniel supporters even more?
But in other polling news, a report on breitbart.com shows McDaniel with a 12-point lead -- 52-40 in a survey conducted by the Citizens United Political Victory Fund poll and by Kellyanne Conway of The Polling Company, Inc.,
Last week, polling released by the McDaniel campaign showed McDaniel with the lead. The Chism polling indicated McDaniel leading 51-48.
Come on Mississippians, do us proud-—vote for McDaniel, and have all your friends and relatives do the same.
Whatever you do, don’t be overconfident!
I always say I’m voting for the other guy because I know they’re going to feed them the numbers and I want them to be overconfident when they get their blocks knocked off. Anyone else do the same?
MS needs to flood the polls with the same passion they showed in the primary, or more.
Two of the last polls have Thud losing by 8% and 12%. Someone is lying here.
Chism has a little larger sample, but its possible they deliberately phoned Democrips on behalf of Haley ‘fatass’ Barbour

Must be the Thad “indecent” comment with the animals thing that really gave him a surge in the polls :/

It’s important to not lose sight of the general election in November.
Mississippi is 37% Black, and Black voters there have slowly but surely increased their turn out in the last 20 years.
The Republican senate nominee must get 80% of the white vote to guarantee a victory.
Romney got 89% of the white vote in 2012, so that is certainly achievable.
However, I don’t know who the Democrat nominee is.
If the Democrat senate nominee is attractive to Left leaning white voters, if the Democrat can capture 25% of the white vote, there is a real possibility the Republican nominee will lose, no matter which one wins the primary.
They are nailing McDaniel on his past statements about federal funds for Education is unconstitutional and I hear it may be hurting him.
Hopefully the voters in Mississippi will realize it is time for the old dude to retire...his ship has sailed...time for new ideas and younger, energetic people needed..
and that goes for Hillary Clinton, she doesn’t have the energy to serve any longer...age happens and age matters...and yes I’m talking from experience at 71 years old...

Not ‘flukey’ if they dishonestly changed the metrics or were not honest in the make up of the demographics in who they polled to get the results that the pollster desired. It’s another version of lying.
