Cleta Mitchell to the IRS: Answer this
Powerline ^ | June 16, 2014 | Scott Johnson

Posted on 06/17/2014 5:32:12 PM PDT by QT3.14

Washington superlawyer Cleta Mitchell represents True the Vote, one of the groups illegally targeted by the IRS in the scandals that have exposed the agency as a partisan operation. True the Vote’s Catherine Engelbrecht has been harassed by federal law enforcement authorities representing three different federal agencies. They represent the price of politics in the Age of Obama.

Cleta has just served the letter below on the attorneys at the Department of Justice representing the IRS in True the Vote’s pending lawsuit referenced in the subject line below. She has also served the letter on Steptoe & Johnson partner Brigida Benitez. Benitez comes in for special attention in Cleta’s letter; she represents the IRS defendants who are sued in their individual capacity.

Cleta has graciously forwarded a copy of her letter to us. Given the newsworthiness of the subject, we are promptly posting it verbatim without further comment for the moment:

That’s a lot of words, a lot of question, a lot of grandstanding ... and they demand answers by noon tomorrow.

I fear they will not get much.

“Inherent Contempt” is the proper term, and CONGRESS needs to get off their asses and LOCK EVERY LAST one of these people up FOREVER.

Obama and his IRS lackeys have most likely destroyed the emails. Obama is seeking “plausible deniability” regarding the emails. He will drag his feet, stall the process and try to run out the clock on his second term. Then he’ll issue pardons on his last day in office.

This would be the end of Ubama... if we still had the rule of law.

I suspect the e-mails show not only naked, and illegal partisanship by ambitious lefty apparatchiks, but also embarrassing unprofessionalism as well.
You can imagine some of the nasty thoughts these hacks put in writing, aware that Valerie Jar Jar wanted “revenge” against those who opposed the Won.

If this stuff gets out they may not keep their jobs or be able to find a job in the private sector that they are always threatening to join since (like university eggheads) they’re always bellyaching that don’t make enough money as `public servants’.

If Congress doesn't throw the person in jail who engaged in the process of deleting these Emails, we're going to see mass deletions of documents as a way of life throughout all of Obama's agencies.

SOMEONE allegedly was logging into Lois Lerner's IRS account after she left.. Could have been her but I don't think she's smart enough to PERMANENTLY delete Emails. Probably a software person who was given her user name and password who did the deed. THAT PERSON NEEDS TO BE IDENTIFIED, ARRESTED AND JAILED, AND BY THE HOUSE IF NEED BE. Screw the DOJ, they've deleted enough F&F documents on their own.

I’m thinking congress must abolish the IRS at this point. They have been used to harass by the Nixon administration and Clinton administration for certain and now under this Bozo up in the white house this agency was used to intimidate and squelch American voices during an election cycle in an attempt to alter the outcome of the election.

Even if Obozo doesn’t take the hit for this, the IRS should be abolished. Never again should this un-American agency ever be allowed to intimidate and strong arm another U.S. citizen.

No matter how hard you try to cover your tracts, there are always footprints. Someone knows the truth, or at least a piece of it. Nixon was swept out of office, not for the original crime, but the coverup.

I fear they will not get much.

I am not an attorney, but it seems that this letter is an official set up for future discussions in the cases pending.

For the IRS; Rock meet hard place.

When Obama made his “not a smidgen of corruption” comment, it meant he had gotten word that the deed had been done.

The current corrupt administration doesn’t care about us, the law, or the Constitution.
It has turned the irs, the fbi, and the doj into instruments of its power outreach.

Therefore, the failure for the IRS to preserve and provide these records to the Committees would evidence either violations of numerous records retention statutes and regulations or obstruction of Congress.......

............We also seek access to all computers, both official and personal, used by any and all of the Defendants from and after July 1, 2010, in order to ensure preservation of the documents of all Defendants in this action.

BOOM!

I disagree. He was parsing his words carefully. There was not a "smidgen" of corruption. Instead, there was a "boatload" of corruption. I expect Josh Earnest to make that clarification soon.

Actually, Nixon only THOUGHT about using the IRS against his enemies. He had no luck with that. The IRS (and all other parts of the shadow government) are owned lock, stock and barrel by the Democrat party.

Factually incorrect.

Nixon through his staffers asked Randolph W. Thrower to audit the returns of a list of people that he wanted to harass.

Thrower testified to investigators that the list started with antiwar leaders and civil rights figures, and later the list had grown to include journalists and members of Congress, among them every Democratic senator up for re-election in 1970.

Thrower refused.

He was fired in 1971.

Nixon more than thought about using the IRS as a weapon.

This is almost as bad as Nixon giving us the EPA OSHA and abandoning the Gold Standard.

This is immeasurably worse than anything Nixon did.

Start with the moral character of the current perpetrators, and compare it with Nixon’s moral character.

Remember, Nixon resigned.
