Lois Lerner email cover-up may succeed: Somewhere, Richard Nixon is chuckling bitterly to himself.

Somewhere, Richard Nixon is chuckling bitterly to himself. When it comes to burying scandal, Tricky Dick was an amateur compared to the gang in the White House today. Obama and Company may well succeed in weaponizing the IRS to hobble his opposition in the 2012 election and escaping the second article of impeachment that Nixon faced.

You can forget about unleashing data recovery experts on the hard drive containing Lois Lerner’s emails – that hard drive has been destroyed. Richard Bade reports in Politico:

Ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s crashed hard drive has been recycled, making it likely the lost emails of the lightening rod in the tea party targeting controversy will never be found, according to multiple sources.

“We’ve been informed that the hard drive has been thrown away,” Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the top Republican on the Finance Committee, said in a brief hallway interview.

Two additional sources told POLITICO the same late Wednesday, citing IRS officials.

Odd, isn’t it, that nobody mentioned this before. Supposedly, recycling is standard procedure for damaged hard drives, and we all know how important recycling is to Saving the Planet. Just try using that excuse, that you recycled your receipts, when the IRS audits you.

Meanwhile, the White House is claiming that they have no records of any suspicious emails from Lerner to people there. The AP reports:

The IRS is lying and everyone involved ought to go to prison. If those emails don’t exist, it is because someone went into MULTIPLE servers and deliberately erased them.

So, the dog that “ate Lois’s homework” has been euthanized and cremated?

Such despicable corruption.

By federal law e-mails have to be preserved in case of any criminal wrong doing. Any private company under federal investigation that just “happened” to destroy a hard drive that contained possible evidence would be in big trouble and charges of obstruction of justice would be flying. With the IRS and this corrupt administration NOTHING will happen. The purported computer crash and destruction of a hard drive that just happened when Lois Lerner was being investigated is just too convenient to be just a coincidence. I would bet that hard drive had correspondence directly with high ups in the White House directing actions against Tea Party groups. There is ample evidence that Democrat members of Congress also illegally had heir hands on these IRS investigations, yet nothing will be done there either. Of course the media will give no time to this story and just parrot whatever their White House manipulators say. Our country has become a banana republic run by a tin horn dictator.

When the Nation's Media serves as the Praetorian Guard -- we are pretty much stuck with our Caligulas.

The Television and Newsprint media are corrupt to the core.

RE: Well then, Lois Lerner should be held in contempt of Congress.

I just want to laugh and shake my head as I read this.

Eric Holder WAS HELD IN CONTEMPT of Congress. Where is he now?

What punishment does being held in contempt of Congress entail?

In the end, it all amounts to a statement that says: “You’ve been a very bad boy/girl.”

In the meantime, Lerner still enjoys her fat pension of over $100,000 a year.

So the IRS is telling us they don’t have incremental backups of their email server?

No. That's not what they are telling you.

They are telling you this: "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever."

Pick any Obama scandal, or choose any Obama foreign crisis and watch Speaker Boehner cover it up.

IRS Source: Lerner’s Hard Drive Likely Destroyed. In other words, the e-mails are likely GONE FOREVER.

Bull. ****.

Emails aren't stored on computer hard drives - copies, perhaps, but the server still is the master copy. A single computer's hard drive is irrelevant in an enterprise system.

I’ll never believe that it all hinges on the status of one hard drive.

Impossible. But then they keep getting more time to destroy evidence. Someone should be in jail.

may?

it already has succeeded.

The gutless and useless GOP leadership has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

How so?

If the data for these emails has been lost, it was done a long time ago. This IRS scandal was a conspiracy from the git go and it was done by sophisticated people knowingly committing a crime.

Lois Lerner was head of ENFORCEMENT activities at the FEC so she is well aware of document preservation policies and she is also well aware of how people work to circumvent these rules.

The plan on how to destroy the e mail records and make sure these e mails never saw the light of day has been in action for a year or so before Lois Lerner intentionally outed the program herself at some conference.

The script on how this IRS scandal would go down was written in 2009 and 2010 and we are just now finally seeing it play out to the public.

Does anyone believe for second Lerner's hard drive simply “crashed” .

For the data to be unrecoverable, the disk drive media would have had to have been over written with garbage data or with zeros at least 3 times, or the would have had to have been placed into a de gausser to destroy the data with a strong magnetic field.

This was all well planned and people have been working in the background to destroy all back ups and cover their digital trails as part of “ normal operations” since way before this became public and anyone was aware there was a need to destroy documents.

>> Start subpoenaing IRS IT people. Put them under oath. Break the IT people and they’ll roll on the political cockroaches.

+1

You’ll need to get someone smarter and more tenacious than Issa to question them, however.

And don’t expect any help whatsoever from Federal forensic experts. They work for the dark side now.

But instead of Woodward and Bernstein, Obama gets Sally Sweetlies, who is part of the cover up team.

The news organizations are going to be all over this. If their checks from the Democrats bounce.

So did the hard drives of all the email recipients crash as well?

Yes, sadly they have.

But, thank goodness, only some of the hard drives. The hard drives holding the emails from before the period in question and the hard drives holding the emails from after the period in question to today are still (fingers crossed!) working just fine.

Bull excrement! There’s literally no way these emails are “gone forever.” They want us to think that, but it’s just not true. Every corporation in the country is required to maintain email archives among others. The government is no different, esp. after 8 years of Bush, you KNOW they put archives up everywhere to try to catch Bush and his cabal in some sort of scandal.

The key difference is that Nixon didn’t have the major news outlets covering for him.

No, the key difference is Nixon had an opposition party interested in substantively engaging him directly. All we get from the GOP is a tip toe through the tulips. They steadfastly refuse to engage Obama directly for the crimes of his admin.
