Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the Sunni militants taking over Iraq have quickly gained power because the United States has armed their group in Syria.
“I think we have to understand first how we got here,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We have been arming [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] ISIS in Syria.”
ISIS, an al Qaeda offshoot, has been collaborating with the Syrian rebels whom the Obama administration has been arming in their efforts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Paul explained.
The administration has reportedly assisted the moderate opposition in Syria, but details about the dissemination of those resources are unclear.
“That is the real contradiction to this whole policy,” Paul said. “If we were to get rid of Assad,” it would become a “jihadist wonderland in Syria.”
Paul is right on this.
We have been arming terrorists in Syria. We have been arming just about anyone opposed to Assad in an effort to overthrow Assad.
Yesterday, there were 3 strange reports:
1. Syrian Air Force might have just assisted Maliki against ISIL in Mosul.
2. Putin has agreed to help Maliki.
3. The King of Clubs, Al Douri, is the leader of ISIL now fighting in Iraq. He was Saddam’s former Vice President and a knowledgeable WMD general.
So, US policy has us fighting the people we were supporting and getting help from the people we were fighting, and having Obama’s nemesis, Putin, coming to the aid of Maliki the guy we support and that Iran supports.
In other words, as I put it together. Our foreign policy is lying through its teeth about what’s going on.

It’s true but with the Saudis backing ISIS it may not matter that much. They would have gotten what they needed anyway.

Well, obviously, we want ISIS to win in Syria, but not in Iraq. And Iran is now our new best friend.

Al Douri captured the judge who sentenced Saddam to death, to day I think, and had him executed.
Al Douri’s chemical expertise also argues that the terrorists in Syria are also likely culprits regarding the chemical weapons attacks in Syria. It also makes one wonder about Saddam’s weapons in Syria.
Duh, where do you think they got the M 16’s?
Paul could be right, but i need to see it from someone else to be sure.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Iran wants us to be Best Man. Today they warned the US to stay out of Iraq.
So they want us to “loan” them `walking around’ money, weapons, ammunition, military expertise so they can kill Sunnis since they can’t seem to do it themselves very well—in other words, to lift them on and off, but otherwise to stay out of their way, off their honeymoon with Iraqi Shias.
Barry always manages to get us the worst of all possible worlds in any given situation.
Rand is finally giving voice to what many of us here have seen.
Under Obama we have switched sides in the war on terror. It has been camouflaged with PR and word-fog and generally obfuscated but we have switched sides.

My key is bearded muslim = not “moderate” muslim. McCain ws posing with some hairy dudes...
And never forget that the Democrats did not do it alone. The GOP provided LOTS of cover. McCain being the boldest example.
But cover they did.
John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Mike Rogers are the most visible of the GOP quislings but I’m sure there are many more.
