Paul: US has been arming ISIS in Syria
The Hill ^ | 06/22/14 | Rebecca Shabad

Posted on 06/22/2014 5:17:33 PM PDT by xzins

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the Sunni militants taking over Iraq have quickly gained power because the United States has armed their group in Syria.

“I think we have to understand first how we got here,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We have been arming [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] ISIS in Syria.”

ISIS, an al Qaeda offshoot, has been collaborating with the Syrian rebels whom the Obama administration has been arming in their efforts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Paul explained.

The administration has reportedly assisted the moderate opposition in Syria, but details about the dissemination of those resources are unclear.

“That is the real contradiction to this whole policy,” Paul said. “If we were to get rid of Assad,” it would become a “jihadist wonderland in Syria.”

The tin foil is strong in me at the moment: What if Obama wants a jihadist take over of Iraq to make Bush and Republicans who argue for a strong defense look bad?

Next election: “Do you really want to vote for a Republican who will continue to send troop around the world on no win missions like Iraq? Vote for the peace loving Dems like Elizabeth here.”

I don’t want to be engaged in wars when reprisals would be more effective.

That said, I don’t want enemies to gain any opportunity to attack the US. Obama has made it hard for democrats to argue that they are better on defense.

Barry's foreign policy is not the publicly stated policy.

Barry's policy is to establish a Sunni jihadist state somewhere in the ME.

He failed in Egypt, but not for want of trying.

He seems to by failing in Syria.

He's succeeded to a degree in Libya, but the situation is fluid and chaotic.

And he's brought Hamas into a “coalition” government in Palestine.

But his big prize is Iraq.

He really really wants to stick it to Bush and America.

And an ISIS state is just the ticket.

I think the only ones who could win the nomination are Cruz, Pat McCrory and Allen West.

McCrory is going to have to admit he is wrong on Tillis when Tillis loses.

Your right.

Barry is a Sunni Kenyan and adopted in Indonesia by another Sunni .

He bow and kissed the Saudi King ring finger said it all to the Arab world.

Watching this Muslim plant let Iraqi fall into hell on purpose is frightening and releasing Five of the most 9-11 leaders for a well known deserter and corroborator just confirms what these traitor's are up to.

We have the enemies of the US in the WH.

Right?..hardly..his two statements logically cancel each other out..

either Bush lost the Iraq before ISIS was armed so arming them is irrelevant..

Or arming then is the factor losing Iraq and Bush did not arm them..

All wars have an "enemy" your fighting..'..

The question is..is ISIS a new enemy create by Bush?..(or just the latest version of an old pre Bush one..)

But useful Idiots arm their enemy'

You want to say Bush created ISIS?.....fine..that a fair debate

But he didn't arm them ..that was the current useful idiot of Islam in office of POTUS

FWIW, according to this report Al-Douri and ISIS are alleged to have made a pact. Someone Is Spilling ISIS’s Secrets on Twitter

"The terror group may be on a rampage in Iraq. But ISIS is being threatened from inside, it seems. And no one is sure who’s behind the tweets disclosing the group’s intimate details.

A mysterious Twitter account is trying to stop ISIS’s rise to power by spilling the terror group’s secrets online. For more than six months a series of tweets have detailed the alleged covert alliances and conspiratorial machinations behind the ascension of The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham, the Islamist group taking over large parts of Iraq. Taken together, the tweets form a slanted but valuable picture of ISIS and one of the only portraits of its leaders. Perhaps even more important, the account is still active, sending out tweets days ago about ISIS’s current strategy in Iraq and what it plans to do next."....

According to the leaker, @wikibaghdady, ".........."ISIS’s inner chamber of power, hidden by Baghdadi’s public front, is led by a former Baathist and colonel in Saddam’s army called Haji Bakr.".............

....."That Baathist connection resurfaced last week after ISIS’ Iraq offensive and has proven to be a critical aspect of the group’s strategy and a cornerstone of its current ability to take and hold ground."......

......."on June 13, the @wikibaghdadi account claimed a "Meeting between ISIS and Naqshbandi Army near al-Qayara area south of Mosul had taken place with representatives from Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri and Baghdadi.”"............

Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri is a mythic figure among many of Iraq’s Sunnis. A high-ranking commander in the Iraqi army before the American invasion, al-Douri became the leader of Iraq’s banned Baath party after Hussein was executed in 2007. He managed to evade capture by American and Iraqi forces and has been in hiding pretty much since then. Since his disappearance, sightings of al-Douri have been reported in Mosul but he has never resurfaced publicly. Now, al-Douri appears to have resurfaced leading the The Naqshbandi Army, the former Baathist officers who form a cornerstone of the Sunni coalition in Mosul that includes ISIS.

After al-Douri’s hiding out for years in Mosul, cultivating the underground Sunni insurgent force, reports about al-Douri suddenly started popping up in the last week. Despite the rhetoric about the ISIS takeover of Iraq, it’s clear that the group’s rapid advance owed much to its alliance with other Sunni groups, including the Baathist Naqshbandis led by al-Douri.

But @wikibaghdady goes further than just positing the alliance between ISIS and Baathist forces. The account claims, as Hassan's translation below shows, that the two groups struck a deal which will place the Baathists in control of a new ruling coalition."................

In Paul's related defense of Obama, and criticism of Cheney, he remarks:

“Maybe there is no solution.”

Yet, he is so informed about cause and conditions...

I agree with your points. As far as Britain is concerned, they also support all these extremists, and I think David Cameron has broken the law - the Prevention of Terrorism Act. But no one will call him to account.

Always knew we didn’t get Al-Douri, and I was just thinking of the red-headed Baa’thist in the last week being mixed up with ISIS.

Deja vu here he comes out.

Rand Paul says the following about ISIS which is 100% correct.

ISIS (2012 and up) = Free Syrian Army (2011 and up) = Al Qaeda(1990s and up) = Mujahideen (1970s and 1980s)

They serve under the same black flag. Here is a picture of ISIS (aka free Syrian Army aka Al Qaeda) in Syria with link.

And here is Al-Qaeda’s flag with supporting links.

ISIS (aka the free Syrian Army…aka Al-Qaeda) is armed, supported and trained by our military and CIA out of Jordan. That is why we are standing down folks.

Remember folks these are the same guys that were operating in Syria, and who the Republicans (McCain( and Democrats wanted to support. Plus they are led by Al-Qaeda.

I see you are on the war path against Senator Rand Paul.

My question to you is who are you for that is qualified, and has a reasonable chance to get elected?

"Our foreign policy..."???? ("The Constitution...) has been described as an “invitation to struggle” between the President and Congress over the making of foreign policy. Compared to every other liberal democracy, the U.S. conducts foreign policy in a cumbersome way. Safeguards built into the Constitution prevent tyranny, yet they frequently pit Congress against the executive branch, make it difficult to develop and implement a cohesive foreign policy, create uncertainty as to what that policy is, and give foreign governments and special interests an opportunity to apply pressure at many points, not just one. As a result, the actors of foreign policy in the U.S. are often difficult to discern."

I see you are just another Paultard. So, I have no question to you, because you’re just another Paultard.

Voting for Rand Paul (or his idiot father Ron Paul) is just casting a vote for a Democrat.

If Rand Paul were to become the Republican candidate — unlikely at best — the response from the American public would be to vote for the Democrat in the race.
