As Tea Party challengers grappled with the stunning news that Sen. Thad Cochran had beaten the odds to win his primary against Chris McDaniel, Tennessee candidate for Senate Joe Carr vowed that the fight would continue.
Make no mistake about it: the fight that Chris McDaniel started in Mississippi will continue here in Tennessee, Carr announced in a statement to supporters late Tuesday night.
Carr specifically criticized the Cochran campaign for working to drive out Democrat supporters to win the runoff election.
According to the Associated Press, Cochran earned 50.8 percent of the vote, while McDaniel peaked with 49.2 percent.
"In recent weeks, we have seen the extraordinary lengths the Washington establishment will go to in order to protect one of their own, Carr said. Reports of efforts to court Democrats reveal how desperate so-called Republicans are to hold on to power - even at the expense of our own ideology.
Carr is challenging establishment Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander in Tennessee, who is running for a third term.

Put the heat on, Joe.
Joe must have been the most disappointed man in American after Chris himself. He knows Lamar! will march to a huge victory now no matter how well he runs his own campaign. It’s all in the incumbency.
If conservatives turn their attention to TN and support Joe, he could have a chance. If we lay down and say ‘uncle’, we’re all done.
A write in campaign CAN win.
Look at the June 3 results here:

(Mississippi results are down the page)
Notice the top vote getter that night was McDaniel. The ENTIRE Democrat slate didnt get HALF the votes of EITHER Republican.
I dont think Cochran will get DEMOCRAT votes in the general election, do you?
McDaniel could repeat what he did on June 3 and be the next Senator from Mississippi.
Murkowsski did it in Alaska, no reason McDaniel can’t to it in MS.
Ole Joe needs to hurry up. He mailed me a bumper sticker and sends fund raising letters but he hasn’t been out campaigning, not in West TN anyway.
From what I can tell by what other Freepers are posting he is out campaigning. Now, WHERE'S THE PRESS? Sitting back supporting Alexander that's where. The media has a way of making things they don't want you to hear or see not be heard or seen.
Now on the other hand if Joe was in office as a Republican lawmaker and doing a quick errand took his dog into a county court house with him on a hot day it would be breaking news printed for months. Trust me on that one. Also if he were a DEM Mayor nothing but praise and awe would be printed.
