Salon.com: Soldiers Aren’t Heroes
Western Free Press ^ | November 11, 2014 | SeekTheTruth

Salon.com has hit a new low. Sunday’s article, titled, “You don’t protect my freedom: Our childish insistence on calling soldiers heroes deadens real democracy” argues that patriotic celebration and respect of our military is a “childish trait” and “forced troop worship and compulsory patriotism must end”.

It is laughable to hear the left call anyone/thing “Childish”

A better idea:

Ship them permanently to a totalitarian regime where they can write all the anti-American tripe they wish

Then long for Mommy’s basement

My dear late father, who served in the Coast Guards during WW 2, would give a good butt kicking to the author who wrote this article.

I’m going to be 66 later this month. My Mom who will be 94 years young also this month says, so what’s the big deal, son?

But I think it’s time for me to shop for those bedroom slippers once featured by Dave Barry. They each say OLD F*** on top and one has a built in Leslie Nielsen cushion so when I walk they will go step BLAAT step BLAAT step BLAAT.....

;^)

You know, its about time Salon had a Dynamic Entry / Building Clearing operation carried out by highly motivated soldiers.

Seriously.

Our Sec. of State is John F. Kerry, a man who lied to Congress to smear our troops with false witness of “war crimes” (he later called it the exaggerations of an angry young man) to provide aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war by diminishing support at home and morale among the troops.

With the midterm election over, the Left is beginning to offer some honesty. With such disparaging views about the military, the only way that Salon could support Obama would be if they regarded his declarations of support for the military as phony — and that tells us a lot about not just Salon, but also about Obama.

My father volunteered for WWII and then when it was over and there weren’t any jobs, he joined the newly formed USAF and went to Korea and retired as an NCO. I once asked him when I was little why he joined and he said, “so you didn’t have to.”

He would never in a million years claim he was a hero, but I think he was and I think that of all of those who served. They deserve recognition, respect and a simple thank you.

The problem is that liberals believe the military is for people who have no other option so they look down upon them. The military is not a cushy job no matter your MOS and these people who join knowing full well they could be in a shooting war deserve respect and recognition.

Thank you to all the veterans out there, you are appreciated and respected and thanks to your sacrifice, I’m free to write what I want and worship how I want; Thank you.

So how does Salon raise it’s money? Do they use advertisers? If so, perhaps the veterans of America (I am one) could contact those companies and ask them where they stand with regards to Salon’s comments.

Thank you for the pointed comments. Everyone should remember that Salon was started specifically for the purpose of defending Bill Clinton during his impeachment and that when dodging the draft Bill Clinton wrote that he "loathed the military".

Like a lot of 19 year olds, I was drafted in 1966 and even though I hadn't given a lot of thought to enlisting I saw it as doing my duty, but your comment about the rite of passage to adulthood was on the mark. I think the country might have taken a turn for the worse when the draft was ended.

Happy Birthday to both to you and your dear mother. My mother just turned 90 this past Sunday, 90 years young. I am 55 and some days I feel it, other days I do not.

Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.... Henry V

That would be the question you would expect to be answered at this point...

I seriously doubt you will get an answer worthy of print...Or even utterance...

BTW, what “is” Salon magazines subscription and distribution???

Can’t be that much, and those that do read (I use the term loosely) it, what does their limited opinion matter to the bigger scheme???

Think of it like this...If you go somewhere and say their lobby or waiting room has some of these for folks to go thru, do you check the address on the label to see if they subscribe to it??? If so, then what do you do???

Just a thought provoking situation you might want to game out and see what you believe you would do...

I personally have never seen one wherever I go...I do not believe I ever will...

Its like the Houston Chronicle...95% advertisements, 4% reporting (liberal journalism), .5% liberal editorial and .5% weather (which is about the only thing worth the paper it is printed on)...And I can get weather on my smartphone faster and easier...

So go and figure the substantive value of Salon magazinee and its impact on the majority of the country...

None of us sheep, except the very oldest of us, have ever known a wolf.

We’re not sure he exists.

So we will start to be careless.

Wander into wolf territory. Then be shocked when one or two of our number don’t return.

But still not fear the wolf.

But... the wolf will eventually trace the strays back to the herd.

There we are today. The wolf waits in the low grass just out of smell range of the herd. Waiting for dusk.
