State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said Friday she has probable cause to file criminal charges in the much publicized death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray who died while in police custody.

Six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended after the incident. Gray suffered a spinal injury and died after riding in a police transport van that made several stops.

On Thursday, Baltimore’s police officials said they turned over their initial report to prosecutors — a day earlier than expected.

Nobody but the police officers that were present really knows what happened, so here is my only question::

If you and I put a person in the back of my van and did not force them to put their seatbelt on, then show up 30 minutes later at our destination to find the person Nearly DEAD with a Broken Neck and what appears to be injuries from a Car Crash,
Do you think we would be ARRESTED for Manslaughter??

You bet your ass we would, no questions asked.

The cops may be guilty of something, but you won’t get to the truth with people like her in charge

You try them all and one or two of them might decide to tell the truth instead of going to the slammer. That's the best chance of getting the truth....

Crazy thing is the fact that in Detroit, they’re complaining about the lack of federal accountability after a federal agent killed a suspect the other day.

That doesn’t fit the narrative to nationalize police so nobody will hear about it.

The clear signal here is: Rioting and looting works.

Try that while white or conservative....me thinks it will be met with the military and extreme force.

I'll bet Obama and friends are ramping up Baltimore grants for more 'job training' programs and a few new community centers named after local thugs...

Just not in the same way, apparently.

By the way that is my main beef with all of these cases, special treatment under the law.

If all Laws were applied equally to all persons, we would not be having this conversation.

Just heard this DA got A $4,000 campaign contrubutions from Freddie Gray’s lawyer.

BTW anybody know why there’s no grand jury on this one, but there was in ferguson.

ALSO the case is still murky, with the witness in the van, and and the securing issue, which IMO sounds like negligence not murder.

I really wish there was more info on this, which understandably will not come until much much later. I’m really not sure how to feel about this. The kid was clearly a drug dealer with well over a dozen arrests. I would assume that was all the probable cause the officers needed. Just seems strange to me that a kid can die of a broken back while riding in a police van. I just hope this is a fair investigation and not some means of calming the locals. This kid may not have deserved to die but he certainly wasn’t a good person. Good, honest, innocent people are hurt every single day, who don’t get any media attention at all. Why do these thugs warrant any of this attention. I just wish these people could open their eyes and see reason.

No. No. No. That's not how it works. The police do NOT have probable cause to arrest someone just because the person has been arrested before (even well over a dozen times). Nor can the police arrest someone for being a drug dealer. The police can only arrest someone if they have probable cause to believe that the person is committing, or has committed, a crime (e.g., that he was dealing drugs, or some other crime). They did not have that here.

Yep.... the fact that so many freepers the other day were jumping all over the story that “he broke his own neck and crushed his own windpipe” does not speak well for us.

from the ABC report on Drudge:

Mosby urged calm in the wake of the charges, speaking directly to protesters at the end of her press conference.

"I heard your call for 'no justice, no peace' however your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of Freddie Gray," she said.

Some observations:

1. So screaming bloody murder and assuming the guilt of the cops will get Mosby to obey the mob. We're also seeing that in the capitulation of Republican governors and business leaders and GOP establishment types in D.C. regarding marriage, immigration, and Obama's Death Panels. America is devoid of true leadership.

2. This might be a bit entertaining, as it pits the urban base of the left with the unions of public employees (cops, in this case)....so let 'em fight it out.

3. This case consumes so much oxygen, gosh darn it, the media won't find time to report on the slumping GDP, Obama's disastrous handling of the economy, the near or record low home ownership rates, the Iranians acquiring nukes, and other events that highlight the vapid banality of Team Valerie.

4. How many people have been murdered, robbed, raped and violated in Baltimore since Mr. Gray's arrest? I am sure those folks and their families want justice...but will get zero because of the mob mentality regarding this case.

The witness in the van was ultimately not charged with anything, and now that he's on the street again he is beginning to recant his story.

Don’t confuse them with logic and facts... I learned decades ago there are some folks here that just live in their own made up reality.

They have blindly defended people who have shot people in the back for doing nothing more than ding dong dashing.

They have blindly defended pedophiles who murdered small children.

Some folks just invent their own realities.

The Gray family lawyer, Billy Murphy, was among Marilyn Mosby's biggest campaign donors last year when she ran for State's Attorney, donating the maximum individual amount allowed, $4,000, in June.

Murphy was also on Mosby's transition team after the election and has been described as a 'mentor' to her.
