CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) —Deputies estimate that they've seized between 7,000 and 10,000 stolen guns from a house and warehouse near Pageland. Deputies have arrested Brent Nicholson in connection with the stolen goods.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks said the seized guns, ammunition and hundreds of other items were all found on a single property off Highway 9 outside Pageland city limits.

Brooks said the guns alone filled one tractor-trailer and ammunition filled another.

Nicholson has been arrested and charged with trafficking opium and heroin earlier in the week in Union County. Deputies reportedly went to serve him with a subpoena Friday and noticed what appeared to be stolen goods in his front yard.

The deputies said they wrote out the reports for the stolen property just days before.

Three comments:

1) He’s a classic hoarder, with a gun fetish
2) It’s hard to believe a nothing sort of guy had the contacts to accumulate so much stolen hardware
3) At least he kept the ammunition in a separate, locked trailer!

Sounds like a fence to me. I hope they can find the owners and return them.

Best part of the article was the interview with is neighbor “Rusty Fender”. Ol’ Rustys parents had a sense of humor.

And how many of these guns were walked off various military posts.... due to poor accountability by Uncle Sam?

What do police usually do with guns the seize? Destroy them. This being the south one can hope it will go differently, but I wouldn't lay good odds on the owners getting their property back.

I assume Chesterfield is rural....

“Rusty Fender told WBTV he had lived next to Nicholson his entire life and never suspected the hoarding of weapons.”

Paragraph 11 (eleven):

"You know he just had 7,000 guns," Brooks said. Ninety-nine-point-nine percent are hunting rifles and shotguns."

So as far as anyone's safety is concerned, he might as well have been hoarding stolen pickup trucks or stolen axes.

If the weapons were reported stolen there’s a good chance in recovery.

Sounds like a fence to me.

It's hard to imagine anyone getting their hands on that many stolen guns otherwise.

***Deputies estimate that they’ve seized between 7,000 and 10,000 stolen guns***

We had a similar thing like this happen here years ago. A local “businessman” (Owned a bar across the line in Oklahoma) was busted for burglary and his house was found with secret panels behind which were stolen guns and lots of other equipment.

After he was arrested and the house emptied, it mysteriously burned one night.

He was just being a good citizen and wanted to get those guns off the street.

7000 stolen guns is a lot of crime focused on one item...Can't imagine thieves traveling from the 50 States to get to this guy to sell him their booty...Would seem they had to come from a much smaller more concentrated area where that many gun thefts would be the topic of discussions thru out the police world in the area...Yet, the cops are scratching their heads...'Where'd all these guns come from???' They didn't even know 7000 guns were missing...

It makes for a great headline for the anti gun freaks...It's going to be interesting to find out the 'rest of the story'...

"Deputies estimate that they've seized between 7,000 and 10,000 stolen guns"

Well that's a nice, loose number. Not too specific.

I have a feeling that a bunch of cops are going to get some nice additions to their personal collections.

Don’t laugh , but the radio station in Charlotte (WBT) reported he once owned a Pawn Shop.
That would explain a lot
