Female Researcher: We Must Make STEM Courses ‘Less Competitive’ to Be More ‘Inclusive’ of Women
National Review ^ | March 22, 2016 | Katherine Timpf

Posted on 03/23/2016 7:01:02 AM PDT by C19fan

A doctoral candidate at the University of North Dakota published a paper suggesting that we should make Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses more “inclusive” of women by making then “less competitive,” which is about the most sexist thing I’ve ever heard. “There is an opportunity for STEM courses to reduce the perception of courses as difficult and unfriendly through language use in the syllabi, and also as a guide for how to use less competitive teaching methods and grading profiles that could improve the experience of female students,” Laura Parson wrote in the paper.

I am big fan of the Victorian Era. It is a riot the feminist Left is making that era's view of women fashionable again whether affirmative consent or this wacko thinking STEM is too competitive and hard for women. The Ph.D. candidate thinks there should be gender/race based grading in STEM.

Good! I really think it is about time someone made math easier for everyone!

Maybe we should make them attend school for another year. I know lots of women who would have loved another year of high school. It was the peak of their lives. After high school they started sliding downhill.

I do not think the answer is to lower the standards to make them feel good.

I swear, we are turning into Moorlocks.

1 + 1 = 2

Math isn’t competitive, it just is what it is. You either get it correct or you don’t.

It’s like jumping across a 10 foot wide ravine. You either jump across or you don’t (and fall in the the ravine). There is no almost jumped across.

The University of North Dakota should deny her a Ph.D. until she demonstrates an ability to actually think.

There’s literally nothing above their intellect. Math too hard? “Make it easier!” Science too hard? “Make it easier!”

I’m waiting for the day that a “researcher” says that the “patriarchy” of calculus deliberately made it difficult and more women should work to make calculus studies “more equal.”

My God! This way of thinking makes my head hurt.

Warning for new bridges:

This bridge designed by GLBT women using Common Core math. I’d turn back if I were you.

AAAARRRGGHH!!!

STEM is the last bastion of rational, logical thought in American academia!

Dumbing that down guarantees that we will destroy any future we may have.

I work with female engineers that would take GREAT EXCEPTION to the thought that these courses need to be dumbed down for women to pass them!

...which is about the most sexist thing I’ve ever heard.

I would agree with that. Most of the women I knew in college who were engineering, science, or math majors regularly ran rings around their male counterparts. If anything they should change it to go easier on the guys.

"how to use less competitive teaching methods and grading profiles that could improve the experience of female students,"

I don't have a clue what this means? What are "less competitive" teaching methods and grading profiles?

That woman is obviously a STEM flunkout.

There are plenty of brilliant women out there. I am married to one (chemistry major, then ops research, then doctorate in comp sci).

It is long past time to put these cheesy lib arts marshmallows in their place...serving double cream coffees in Starbucks.

Oh forgot, that is where they are if they don’t get a professor position at a college with no standards.

“””A doctoral candidate at the University of North Dakota”””

National Review did not state the field she was getting her doctoral degree.

Why do I suspect it is in Womyn’s Studies?

I certainly want to fly in an airplane that was designed using easier maths, or live in a building that shortcuts FEA so some socialist bimbo can get a break.

They really don't get it.
