President Obama has just set a new record for rules and regulations, his administration spitting out 527 pages worth in just one day, as he races to put his fingerprint on virtually every corner of American life and business.
According to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the administration has just shattered the old record for pages of regulations and rules published by the in-house journal, the Federal Register.
At 81,640 total pages for 2016, it ranks first and 235 pages more than all of those published in 2010, the previous record.
What's more, there are still about 26 working days left in the year.
"This is astonishing and should be of great concern, and intolerable, to policymakers. It is remarkable enough that the all-time record has been passed before Thanksgiving," he added.
Obama has promised to regulate by executive authority, but the sheer number of pages of regulations being rushed through is astonishing.
Still, it's not a big surprise to CEI and other regulation watchdogs.
The reason, said Crews, Obama owns seven of the 10 highest-ever Federal Register counts.

“I hope Trump announces that no one will face any consequences for failing to follow these regs.”
He won’t have to. The regs go into effect 60 days after publishing in the federal register. These bad boys will be strangled in the crib.
That’s what I was thinking. instead of wasting time going through each regulation, just burn the book.
If I'm not mistaken, that doesn't matter to the President at all. He can keep that pen and phone working right up 'til midnight Jan 19, 2017.
I’ve read a few things about Israel afraid he is going to pull something bad on them before he leaves office. At first I didn’t think he would have the nerve, but after seeing the way he is acting today I wouldn’t put anything past him.
This should be a valuable lesson to all those on Capitol Hill that are questioning how far Trump should go in applying the mandate given to him by the American voters.
Incrementalism- as defined by GWB- absolutely sucks. Eliminate all of Obama’s laws/legislation/legacy & ram the Trump agenda right down their throats. And if the Soros lead riots continue play hardball with them too. Enough of this crap, and unless Republicans fully realize this country is in a war against Marxist globalists this opportunity to change the country for the better may be lost for good.
No apology needed by our side.
What a waste of paper, since it’s all going to be reversed in a few months.
Why is Obama wasting all that paper? Why does Obama hate trees?!?
All states already have state level equivalents of the EPA. EPA should at least be reduced to an advisory and research role with no regulating authority at all. They can recommend stuff all day long, but it will be up to the states to implement. That by itself would have immeasurable benefits.
Trump should announce today that any regulations dated from today onward are null and void.
Let Bammy write what he wants.
California refuses some trade with other States if they don’t comply with their regulations. They had all trucks go through expensive overhaul, putting small truckers out of business, then told out of state truckers they couldn’t drive through their state if not in compliance.
ALL regs by Clown Prince nobama need to be yanked on Jan20, 2017.
Which party is like the Pharisees and which is like the Sadducees?
Great idea!
You should send it to him, seriously.
It is similar to telling illegal aliens that nothing would happen to them if the voted in the USA.
I thought this was what we paid Congress to do. He needs to request that Congress codify that EOs can be used for daily operations of Administration duties only and that any law or regulation that affects nonadministration personnel must be approved by Congress prior to being enforceable.
If CA wants to be a bunch of fools they will be unable to inflict that foolishness on others. Economic disparity will eventually compel adoption of responsible policies.
He’ll be in his seat at the inauguration signing executive orders until noon.
By the end of Year 1, I'd like to see FedGov the size of Clinton's government or smaller. By the end of year 4, I'd like to see FedGov the size of LBJ's government, and there would still be work to do.
I look forward to the day when a federal court will set a record for criminal convictions of federal officials, managers and staffers.
That’s a lot of toilet paper.
Sounds good to me.
