Trump Summons TV Figures for Private Meeting, and Lets Them Have It
MSN News ^ | 11/22/2016 | MICHAEL M. GRYNBAUM and SYDNEY EMBER

It had all the trappings of a high-level rapprochement: President-elect Donald J. Trump, now the nation’s press critic in chief, inviting the leading anchors and executives of television news to join him on Monday for a private meeting of minds.

On-air stars like Lester Holt, Charlie Rose, George Stephanopoulos and Wolf Blitzer headed to Trump Tower for the off-the-record gathering, typically the kind of event where journalists and politicians clear the air after a hard-fought campaign.

Instead, the president-elect delivered a defiant message: You got it all wrong.

"Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to Mr. Trump, described the meeting in more tempered terms. “It was very cordial, very productive, very congenial,” Ms. Conway told reporters at Trump Tower. “It was also very candid and very honest.”

“From my own perspective,” she added, “it’s great to hit the reset button.”

Still, the encounter crystallized concerns that Mr. Trump, emboldened by his victory, may refuse to abide the traditional dynamic of a president and the journalists who cover him, a naturally adversarial relationship that is nevertheless based on some level of mutual trust."

Trump should never trust the media. They are not trustworthy.

It is great that Trump refuses to passively accept the continual lies and attacks from the media.

There is nothing Trump can do that will please the media. Appeasement will not work.

I would strong recommend people go and read the version at the NY Post:

http://nypost.com/2016/11/21/donald-trumps-media-summit-was-a-f-ing-firing-squad/

Trump didn’t waste time....he blasted the entire room and laid down some harsh criticism of their behavior. At some point, David Muir wanted to dig into Trump, but whoever was watching the whole thing explode...just noted that the meeting didn’t end well for the journalists.

If Trump goes with his Trump-TV idea, I don’t see how any of the networks can pay out millions for what amounts to secondary coverage.

The media have proven themselves to be untrustworthy.

Only a fool trusts anything that comes from the major media conglomerates "news" divisions.

What a crock. The very idea that there is some “traditional dynamic” that defines the president/press relationship, and which transcends the blatant double standard in their coverage of republican presidents vs their coverage of democrat presidents.

Ironically, this article about the press missing the point - totally misses the point.

I recall President Nixon had the idea to purchase one of the networks (such as CBS) and have it be a “Conservative” network to counteract the remainder of the negative, non-stop leftist garbage of the other media outlets. Fox came close but ultimately failed in that regard. Now is the best time to create a new channel that is unapologetically Conservative.

Trump is to say the least unconventional and that is what we love about him but, after blasting these SOBs he might consider extending some kind of olive branch anyway. He must work with them for the next 4 years and it behooves him to chill out a bit...

Nonsense. Trump owes these subversive ultraleftist Fifth Columnists precisely nothing, no more so than a woman who’s just been gang-raped by a pack of subhuman vermin. They need to change their act and dramatically.

David Muir could be the worst of all of them. He is a colleague of Radditz.

I agree that they deserve a brow beating but they will NOT change their act. It will only make them more defensive and aggresive regarding the Trump Administration. So while I enjoy them getting their butt’s kicked, the mass media still has sway over millions of Zombies...

George Stephanopoulos ?

Is he and his loud mouthed wife still here? I thought they were moving to Australia or Outer Mongolia. You mean to tell me they lied? Wow!

I “trust” the MSM to lie 24/7.

That is what they “do”.

Many here have suggested that an a la carte requirement for cable companies might be a remedy that would force the channels to listen to consumers.

Hopefully the Trump folks will come up with a long list—but the current system is not working for consumers of “news”.

My personal favorite is that each media outlet be required to state its biases on political parties and issues rather than pretending to be “neutral”.

We’re far past giving these criminal lying liars who lie a simple brow-beating. They are owed a complete bypass by President Trump. You’re right, they won’t change their act. They’ll continue doing what malignant narcissists and subversives do, so Trump should must take his message and agenda directly to the people so that his words cannot be distorted by these vile cretins.

BTW, after seeing their conduct from day #1 when Trump declared his candidacy, it really isn’t humanly possible for them to be more defensive and aggressive. They’ve completely lost touch with reality, and it’s time for the death blow to their cancer on our nation to be delivered mercilessly.
