California Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced Thursday that a ballot initiative called “California Nation” has been approved by the state to begin collecting signatures to qualify for the 2018 ballot. The effort is supported by the “Yes California” campaign, an organization that enjoys the support of the Russian government and whose founder, Louis Marinelli, now lives in Russia.

When the Mexican Army invades from the southern border don’t call on the American forces to come rescue your ass.

I’m actually confused about this. Except for Texas, I didn’t think states could secede. We fought a war the last time some states tried it. Not that I would mind seeing south California go on their own, though. What makes these people think they could secede?

You’ll have to move — You would be an enemy of the state.

Actually it seems to be Silicon Valley types, guy named Shirvin Pishevar in particular, who are pushing for this. The idea seems to be to temporarily exit and refuse to come back unless a list of demands, like ending the electoral college, are not met. They don’t seem to want to actually leave, just turn the rest of us into California-east. I guess this is plan B after the whole country rebelled against the California-ing of the rest of us over the past few years.

“Don’t write all of us off”

I for one would not do that. What worries me is that I can see the seeds of the next Civil War in America over this issue.

People are writing this off as a silly lark. No, this will gain momentum because for nearly 40 years much of California’s public school system has been teaching kids to hate America and California has taken in millions of illegals who NOT loyal to the U.S.

When this popped up on Twitter the night of the election people here all laughed over it. I said it then, and I’ll say it now, this could lead to Civil War. I’m not crazy. I’m just always twenty years ahead of the curve.

The first great sign will be another series of showdowns between the Federal Government (now under Trump) and the state and local governments of California. If you see massive protests in the street rather than just hear about lawsuits in court, then you’ll know there’s something to this.

Next? If we see - in a year, maybe two - acts of violence committed for a “Republic of California” and if they coalesce into an armed movement with a name, a pattern of visible violence, a known command structure, and most importantly support from a sizable portion of the population then we’ll know what’s coming.

I don’t think it will get that far. BUT NONE OF THIS IS TO BE LAUGHED OFF.

Do any of these people see the irony and hypocrisy of being backed by Russia?

"They would instantly go broke"

Uh, no; they'd be instantly incorporated back into Mexico.

.
The legitimate voting population of California is not liberal.

Liberal success at the polls, like Hillary, depends upon deep-rooted systematic fraud.

California is ready to go to war against it’s fraudulently elected masters.

The U.S. paid Mexico for that land. Sell it back to them, at enough profit to pay for the fence, which just had the mileage increased to cover border with AZ, NV, and OR.

How much should we charge them for all the National Parks in the State? How much for Colorado River water? How much for federal wilderness lands?

I sure hope they have thought this through, as I am certain that between these costs and the tariffs/taxes that Trump will impose, that it is going to be costly.

That’s an interesting perspective. Thanks.

I suspect that other businesses in the state that are not ideologically driven like the SV types might want to leave to avoid the coming train wreck if this thing gains traction.

Just sign your name as Vicente Fox.

Cancel the fly-over privileges for airplanes coming and going from California’s airfields.

Make them land in Area-51 to clear customs and submit to body cavity searches.

Democrats will not allow it....

All those electoral college votes gone would seal their doom as a political party forever.

The Rats would fight this tooth and nail. If CA leaves they would never win another national election.

Without California, Hillary would have lost the overall vote by 2 million votes.

So now it makes sense why Trump is calling for an investigation into voter fraud. Nancy Pelosi might complain that “anything goes” with the GOP, but the rest of the country seems to have had quite enough of Silicon Valley’s legislative priorities ruling over the rest of the country.

You all have my sympathy, and there is plenty of room for you here should it literally all go South!
