Republican Sen. Tom Cotton suggested Republicans should literally force Democrats to vote on President Trump’s nominees Tuesday, by ordering the sergeant at arms to “haul” them into the committee room.
“I don’t know how long they plan to do this,” Cotton said on the Senate floor, after Democrats began a “boycott” of committee-level votes on several of Trump’s nominees. “I don’t know if they intend to abscond out of the District, if we’re going to have to vote to have the sergeant at arms track them down, haul them to work to do their business.”
The sergeant at arms takes orders from the Senate majority leader, currently Republican Mitch McConnell, who has the authority to enforce a quorum call. If Republicans agree to support the move, McConnell could order the sergeant at arms to physically bring Democrats into the room for a vote, although the move is somewhat unlikely.
Nevertheless, Cotton remarked on the sergeant at arms standing in the chamber: “He has a distinguished record in military and law enforcement. He could probably do that effectively.”
I don't think party affiliation has anything to do with it. I'm guessing the article means that without Democrats, a quorum can't be established. If that's the case, your plot wouldn't work anyway.
They are being paid to do their job. Their job is not to not do their job, but vote even if they do not like it, and there are republicans and non party in their districts who they are supposed to represent.
Why can’t Trump announce that without a Secretary of, he will assume the position and go through the office issuing pink slips?
McConnell can recess the senate and President Trump can appoint the nominees in their absence.
No need for any “hauling”.

I am tired of playing games
Sooner or later these nimrods will need something from Trump and they’ll show up for the vote. We just need one.
Trump should not even let on that this is a problem, he should continue full steam. He should not throw these people a bone (except maybe for the one Dem who will show up for the vote...) because he is never going to get their approval. They are forcing him to defeat them, which means since he can’t get their help, he doesn’t need their help.
Be sure to have cameras out. Especially at the airport.
I agree with all of this. But who determines if a Senator is not doing his job? Leave it to the voters in each Senator's state. This childish behavior is worth a new GOP senator or two in 2018.

There’s only one good thing you can say about the Democrat Party, they are not giant pussies like the Republican Party - they know how to fight.

if they’re not there to vote, move on without them.
Their job is to represent their district, and vote accordingly. In their district is not all loons like the Dem party has become, and even if they were they should vote as that is their job description. It is not to avoid doing their hob and act like babies.
Can President Trump put someone in place until a vote?
If so, I’d suggest someone that would upset Dems so much they’d jump to vote.

McConnell had best learn what being a man is. He must have fruit loops in underwear. You ought to see Obama’s list of recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This knee jerk lib made Hollywood think they were America.
