Reports: Scaramucci Was Only Hired To Get Rid Of Priebus

Multiple reports have surfaced saying former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci was only hired to get rid of former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Scaramucci was removed from his position Monday, after 10 days on the job. The dismissal came alongside reports that White House senior advisor Jared Kushner and President Trump’s daughter Ivanka influenced the president to bring in Scaramucci, primarily to take out Priebus.

“Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter, and Jared Kushner, her husband, had pushed the president to hire Mr. Scaramucci, seeing him as a way to force out Mr. Priebus, the former national Republican committee chairman, and his allies in the West Wing,” The New York Times reported.

“Jared and Ivanka were instrumental in bringing in Scaramucci, primarily to take out Reince Priebus,” Mike Allen reported in Axios. “That was his chief (some might say only) duty.”

He elaborated in an update: “Kushner and Ivanka brought in Scaramucci as an instrument of destruction against Reince Priebus. He was used as a tool to end Priebus’ tenure in the corner office. A source familiar with Jared and Ivanka’s thinking said they’re fully supportive of the general and will follow his lead.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe one of the perks of accepting a government position is they allow you to sell your holdings either tax free (or at some highly discounted rate, but I believe it is tax free).

It's called a certificate of divestiture.

It allows an appointee to sell his assets and, within 60 days, reinvest them in a "permitted property", such as government bonds or diversified mutual funds. The capital gains tax the sale would have generated is deferred until the permitted property is ultimately sold, presumably after the appointee leaves office.

Thus, it does not eliminate the tax. Rather, it defers the tax until the appointee finishes his government service. While the appointee serves, the proceeds of his asset sale continue to appreciate, but must be invested in conflict-free vehicles.

The impact on the Mooch is likely negative. He will now have to take the tax bath and then figure out where to go next with his considerable nest egg.

Could such divestiture be structured in such a manner as to protect assets in, say, a divorce proceeding?

IANAL, but I think this only applies to government appointees with enough scratch to matter.

Presumably, the spouse would have the same claim on the "permitted properties" that she would have had on the assets that were sold to acquire the permitted properties.

I believe the story that the Mooch was brought in kick Reince Preibus out.

But there’s another motive too: to make Scaramucci a public figure.

We have not seen the end of Scaramucci. He may be back in another role in the Administration. He may be running for Senate.

What do ya think?

I’m sure there will be 30 - 40 more theories in the next few days.

It's about time a conservative in office used the whack-a-mole routine to our advantage. Thank you, Donald Trump.

I will believe this IF Mooch ends up at the transfer bank. If he is out of the admin for good then this is BS.

For that matter I don’t remember seeing Kushner on my ballot.

I don't remember General Kelly on my ballot. I guess his advice isn't legitimate. As the "unitary executive" the President should make every decision and entertain no input. /s

Thanks for the insight. So, it seems that this will also be of financial impact to him. Wow.

Scaramucci will you do the fandango? 'Scaramouch' searches up 8,000% after hire
Another lost character is Scaramuccia, also known as Scaramouche. A roguish character who wears a black velvet mask and black trousers, shirt and hat. This pantomime character was invented by a 17th century Italian actor, Tiberio Fiorelli. Scaramouche is a fool, a coward and a boaster and is always outwitted by Harlequin. The character is traditionally dressed in black as a parody of a Spanish nobleman.

Why would they need to being him in to fire Priebus? Trump is scared of that little peon? What will happen with foreign leaders if he is scared of Priebus?

I don't believe for a second that is why he was hired. If it was they are total morons.

For that matter I don’t remember seeing Kushner on my ballot. Why are he and Ivanka deciding who’s in the staff.

You just weren't paying attention, or the let the media do your thinking for you.

I don’t know why anyone believes anything the MSM claims. The sources for this “news” are Axios (run by leftistpukes from Politico), the NYT, and “unnamed sources”.

IOW, either total or mixed b.s.
