Was the skipper of the Alnic a Chinese guy? Had the Alnic called in China or spent time there? I smell some Chinese involvement in this; they want free rein of the Pacific. Getting Dimocratz up in arms just might accomplish this to an extent.

I’d expect bad actors are continually trying to mess with all our systems. However, this happened during daylight- no one is hacking the captain’s binoculars.

Mattis needs to take decisive, bold action. Immediately.

GPS Spoofing? I guess that could be an issue of the ship ran totally on autopilot and there was NO ONE on watch of any kind...

Ultimately, there is ZERO excuse for this kind of accident. Time for MASSIVE shake-up of crew, captains, and those higher up the food chain.

Do our ship’s watch officers still have a set of eyes and binoculars.

The ship was named after John S. McCain Sr., and John S. McCain Jr., distinguished naval officers and WWII vets.

I have worked as an able bodied seaman and third officer.
The normal watch on the bridge is one licensed deck officer,
in heavy traffic, an AB on the helm, and one lookout either on the bridge or on the bow (either an AB or Ordinary Seaman).

If there is heavy traffic, the licensed deck officer (first, second, or third mate) will call the captain to the bridge who may or may not take the conn but at least will be an extra pair of eyes and monitor the radars and/or collision avoidance system.

Also, after the USS Fitzgerald and other recent naval accidents, it would have been important to order every ship and command to do the most thorough possible review and updating of all training, watch, procedures, etc.

It is just so difficult to believe that this can happen again, with another DDG (we only have 64 of the Arleigh Burke class and they are critical front-line combat resources worldwide).

It seems like there needs to be some serious shake-up and improvements in the navy, fast. This is also very embarrassing from a foreign policy standpoint, not to mention the obvious combat readiness concerns.

But worst of all tonight is that 10-12 US naval personnnel may be dead.

ding ding ding, we have a winner. It’s part of the COUP(fundamental transformation) that started in 2008. Now we have antifa types in the MIL feeling empowered by Charlottesville? Sabotaging the US MIL?

If you’re not a prepper yet, better late than never.

Wow. What is it with our ships and being hit by merchant vessels? Don’t we have radar or something?

Map showing (upper middle right) showing where Alnic MC stopped after collision:

Looks nowhere near as convoluted as the ACX Crystal's track...
