ne sunny day in October, at the Jefferson Parish correctional center just across the river from downtown New Orleans, Tiffany Burns, 34, was visiting her boyfriend.
The pair had been dating for almost two years and were still giggly in love when a late July knock on the door sent him away. Scooped up by the police after being accused of robbing a suburban bank at gunpoint, Chrishon Brown, 37, was sent to the correctional center while his case worked its way through the court.
A new, unwelcome chapter of their relationship began, with Brown using all his jail funds to call Tiffany, and Tiffany visiting as often as she could.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime, morons...
Between this post and post 22 I find both of them sounding like a sadistic narcissist. I suppose you think that no one in jail or prison still has family , kids and other loved ones that still need each other? What a self redeeming jerk you have just shown yourself to be. Oh I forgot, you are the one that post all the Christian religious readings. Too bad not everyone in this world can be perfect like you and never find themselves on the wrong end of the law. Yep, lock them away, bread and water and throw away the key. I wouldn’t let you keep my dog or anything else I cared about.
A + B = C
The "boyfriend" believes that if he robs a bank, he won't be caught, convicted, and incarcerated for a long time.
It's the B part that needs correcting across our whole country, especially in the schools and churches, most of which have gone way wrong.
With the right B in government and business, we will have good C, as in the older, better days.
So, in the future, don't leave out the B-attitudes that produce good Do-attitudes
People obviously can have a good side and a bad side.
Have you not read the literature describing that system?
Doesnt affect California where 99% of crimes dont get any jail time any more. Stores dont even bother stopping shoplifters since Police arent supposed to do much with them and its too much trouble. Plus we love our criminals living under the freeways and pooping on our streets. Easier for families to visit under the freeway overpasses anyway.
I just got back from driving into and back out of New Orleans, one of my favorite US places to visit.
Without a doubt, this woman would spend more than $12.99 to go visit her boyfriend................a lot more!
My parking fee per night was $40.00 just for one example of N.O. cost’s. A Miller Light at a bar was $6.50 plus a tip! A mediocre Bloody Mary in a bar is $11.00 bucks! Buffet breakfast at a Hotel excluding tip $29.00. It was really goooooooddd!.............I’ll grant you........but EXPENSIVE.
Too bad
Dont date or marry criminals
He werent boyfriend material
Security concerns, say the programs supporters.
Crap. The reason for halting in-person visits is $12.99 per video visit. In person was free.
So far, no one has pointed out that visiting the imprisoned is a religious duty for Christians. If you’re a Bible believer and all.
I do? Sorry, FRiend, I haven't posted a Christian reading in years.
I suppose you think that no one in jail or prison still has family , kids and other loved ones that still need each other?
I understand they do. And I understand that not all of them would share my thoughts: if I, personally, fetched up in prison, I would refuse to see any family, accept any mail from them, or have any contact whatsoever (other than to sign divorce papers filed by my wife). If I ever ended up in prison, I would insist that my entire family to count me as dead from that point forward.
Of course, that's me personally. (And, yes, that is very narcissistic...I would never be able to endure the shame of seeing them and if any of them, even my own mother, showed me any kindness, it would probably drive me to hang myself in my cell)
For others: yes, no contact while incarcerated. For me, the ban would be for the rest of my miserable life.
Too bad not everyone in this world can be perfect like you and never find themselves on the wrong end of the law.
Yup, too bad not everyone can be perfect. FRiend, I deserve no mercy, no sympathy, no friendship. I do not deserve a break. If you saw me bleeding on the side of the road, you should not waste your time calling an ambulance...the only thing you should waste your time on is spitting in any open wounds I might have. And that is without being a felon. If I was a felon, society should throw me into a dark hole for years. (Remember the solitary confinement scene from Papillon? That should be easy time compared to what I should get if I committed a felony).
Once released from confinement, I should be a total outcast to all of society -- the good citizens of any village, town or city should drive me out of their town with pitchforks and fire so the citizens of that city could not be corrupted by the stain of my miserable existence. I should be forced to exist on garbage...until the owner of the garbage dump catches me and drives me off his land as well.
Forever more I should be treated as a rabid dog. Chased away from anybody it could possibly infect and put down as soon as possible.
I should put out so much that I would pray for a speedy death rather than the slow death of disease, starvation, and pestilence that I would deserve.
My hell should begin the minute I commit the crime and should never come to an end (even in death). THAT is truly what I would deserve.
Now I'm certainly not calling on that level of punishment for anybody else, only myself. After all, I believe that others should be granted mercy (but it would be the height of arrogance to think that I, myself, would deserve it or would be granted it).
The only thing I'm calling on for other people is that they should be totally locked away while in prison and that society shouldn't be burdened with the cost of keeping them.
I wouldnt let you keep my dog or anything else I cared about.
I would certainly hope you wouldn't be foolish enough to trust anything you care about to a random stranger who likes to troll on the Internet (see profile page).
>> There are places in the world where prisoners are not fed. <<
I’ve been a long advocate of feeding prisoners Dog Kibble.
If it’s good enough for the dog, then it’s good enough for prisoners. If they wanted something tasty, then they should have considered not doing the crime.
I agree.
But, on the flip-side, the punishments really should fit the crime; this is one area where our justice system is desperately, desperately out of order.
While I agree with the sentiment, the reality is that treating prisoners like crap greatly increases the likelihood that they'll stay criminals. On the other hand, places that treat prisoners like human beings have far lower re-offense rates.
Not very satisfying for vengeance, but better for taxes and society, I think.
As to "pervs," I personally know two fellows who did time as "S. O."es, who in the ten years following their jail time and parole have proven to be rehabilitated, one quite thoroughly; the other still an alcoholic, but not offensive in/to females or other inappropriate avenues.
In fact, if you look at the question of sin, no one--not you, not me--escapes the bent to doing wrong. In that sense, every one is genetically a "perv" and deserves the death sentence he/she will receive for it, without exception.
Rehabilitation during the period between birth and death? Yeah, we start that process for our children from the beginning. As born, they are criminals at heart, and under condemnation if no change is made.
In some, through their attitudes toward correction or poor training, it is incomplete. Sometimes a jail sentence is what makes a difference. In others, an admission of one's inherent depravity and a true desire for a "rebirth" from God achieves a permanent change in belief, accompanied by abandoning sorrowful actions and consequences.
But many will bumble through life and die unrehabilitated, without ever experiencing reformation through jail time or through diligently attempted religious activity.
The claim that "pervs" cannot be rehabilitated is a lie for the few who have changed. It would be good for you to review your stance on that issue.
“I can tell you that between visitations and phone calls, the inmate continues to operate his street business.”
I was up late one night and happened across a channel showing FBI cases.
This one was about a gang based in Chicago and branches in Texas and Philadelphia.
The head honcho was serving time in Club Fed but still running the gang from prison.
They used an elaborate code to communicate.
The FBI recorded every phone call from the prison, every call at the gangs HQ and their various branches.
It took the FBI over a year to break the code and another six months or so to get their case together. All the while the head of the gang was directing the drug business and even ordering hits from Club Fed.
When the gang was brought down the top three guys ended up with life sentences and their time was to be served in solitary because of their previous experience running the gang from prison.
I’m glad you brought up Duke.
There never was a rape case of the Duke team members. The examining doctor found DNA of a few people when they did the examination. But none of it was of the three she said had raped or molested her from the Duke team in the bathroom. In other words, she lied.
The district attorney in the case, Mike Nifong, was brought to charges by the state bar association for withholding the DNA evidence and had to recuse himself from the case. He was replaced by Roy Cooper, the North Carolina AG, who after giving the case a complete look, dropped the charges just short of four months later.

But your statement: “For every Duke lacrosse player whose families were able to afford the best lawyer money can buy, there are others whose families weren’t,” is an example of the problems that is in our information highway. The cost of the attorneys had nothing to do with the innocence or guilt of the accused and presents a further misrepresentation of the case that seems to come up down the road. George Zimmerman, Jason Stockley and Darren Wilson are all examples of men accused in the court of the media that has ruined their lives when they were completely innocent and it didn’t stop there.
And that’s why these boards like the Freepers are such a problem for the libs who live on lies and smoke/mirrors. We are the last bastion of truth.
