The Department of Housing and Urban Development spent more than $31,000 on a new table and chairs for the dining room adjacent to Secretary Ben Carson's office revelations that came just months after an official that warned against high expenses was moved to a new role within the department.
The former senior HUD official, Helen Foster, has since filed a complaint that she was demoted in retaliation for raising concerns about granting extra funds to redecorate Carson's office and other issues within the department.

$31,000 for a 12 or 16 place setting of good quality including chairs, delivery and setup is not outrageous.

Carson comes across as a modest man. What a hoot. There’s nothing modest about grandiose spending just because it’s taxpayer money and then punishing those who point it out.

Come on, now. He can eat at his f*cking desk or the cafeteria like the rest of us. Spending $31k of taxpayers’ money on a private dining room table is ridiculous, and is exactly the type of government waste that this Administration should be stopping!
This smells like a setup to me.
I don’t believe that Ben Carson craves an expensive dining set.
