KJV-Only Church Requires Clear Bible Covers To Verify No One Concealing NIV

April 3, 2018

MOORE, OK—In a new security measure designed to increase congregational safety, Ye Olde Baptist Church AV 1611 has begun requiring congregants to utilize clear Bible covers while attending services in order to verify no one is concealing a different translation like the “extremely dangerous” NIV.

Depends on WHICH NIV you have and/or use.

The old (not that old) NIV is the most accurate I’ve found.

In a former church, the pastor, in explaining the KJV text often would say “ But in the Greek it means this...”. EVERY time the NIV had it correct.

I figured if you have to correct the meaning in the KJV all the time and the NIV already has that meaning, why aren’t I using NIV? So, I do.

Now I use biblegateway
https://www.biblegateway.com/

and Bible Hub
http://biblehub.com/

all the time.

And then there is always the Codex Sinaiticus

Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world. Handwritten well over ***1600*** years ago.....

Move over King James (*407* years old).

If you just keep in mind that most of the newer versions don’t claim to be accurate, but paraphrased versions, then it helps. Actually, the KJV (and Young’s Literal Translation), are not necessarily, the most accurate, but are the most “literal”. Accurate and literal are not the same, because “literal” translations do not account for “idioms” (a form of expression that is particular to a certain person or group of people.) Just as foreign speakers do not understand certain American figures of speech, such as, “You drive me nuts”, or, “it’s raining cats and dogs”, we do not necessarily understand Biblical idioms, for what they really are saying. Of course, a good concordance will help, but there is a certain segment of Christians, who won’t use a concordance, but rely on the KJV, exactly as it is written. True story: a God fearing, but rather ignorant old fellow I knew of, stated, “I don’t believe in lawyers, because the Bible says, ‘Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.’ (Mark 11:52), and woe means stop!”
Personally, I love the KJV, but I keep my concordance handy, as I study, for when things don’t make sense to me. And, of course, the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, if we let Him.

Most people use the name Paul instead.

It is quite apropos and humorous.

What a lot of people don’t understand is that just about any translation can speak the Word of God to you through the Holy Spirit.

I usually use several translations if I question the accuracy of the one I am reading at the time.

As long as the Bible is not derived from Scofield and/or New Age stuff, then the translation/commentary should be good.

“And, of course, the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, if we let Him.”

Exactly.

I started out reading the KJV and really like it, but always compare it with other translations or a concordance if I need clarification.

James white is an ignorant fool!

He is leading millions astray.

So-called “modern translations” are all based on the deliberately corrupted Hort-Westcott Greek.

One should read Hort’s and Westcott’s letters before trusting their abomination. They were unbelievers, even though they were Bishops in the church.

The Message helped bring my sister back to her faith in Christ.

“Oh I try to read the Bible but it is just too hard to read....”

“Oh thank your for that Bible! (The Message) I can actually read it and understand it - like Jesus is actually speaking to me!!”

“Well - its not really a Bible - but figured it might help you in your faith.”

She ended up in a Bible study (with real Bibles!) - but still used The Message a lot as she grew in faith. Lots of things worked together to have her renew her faith again - with The Message being one of them.

So amazing to see a person calling in the middle of the night and crying and sobbing and screaming about her fear of dying and how she’s going to hell because she has been so bad and that God can’t forgive her, to being on her death bed and not having ANY fear - “I know that I’m in God’s hands now.”

If you need “clarification,” just cross out the italicised words in your KJV and you will have the exact message of the “Received Texts.”

It is those added words that corrupt the KJV; otherwise it is an unassailable translation.

P.S.
Two more gospels have been found in vatican archives in the original Hebrew language.

We now have Matthew, Luke and John in their author’s native language.

These are definitely not back-translations from Greek translations. They differ in significant ways.

James white is an ignorant fool!

Well, I certainly don’t agree with him on everything. e.g. he believes in ECT while I’m an ardent believer in CI.

But his information on KJVO is incredibly thorough and deep.

He addresses your specific arguments, btw. Ad-nausium...

I’ve found that most versions, including the KJV, have value. None of them are “the” correct version. That sort of absolutism I leave to Mormonism and Islam.

Most of the folks in our denomination use the ESV. I don’t get all the arguments, though. Except for versions put out there by various cults, it seems that getting people to read most any translation would be a plus.

29 What’s interesting is that the KJV is not the last translation, nor is it the first. It is, in the great scheme of things, simply one of many translations. I simply can’t understand KJV worship. It’s not the best version for me. It’s not the worst version. It is useful as are most versions. For me it’s really not about which version of the bible anyway. It’s about my relationship with Him. The bible is good for improving that relationship, but I can do that even with a JW “Green” version if it’s all I have at my disposal.

Satire.

No evangelical considers the NIV “dangerous.” As for KJV-onlyists, who cares?

Our church has a by-law in its Constitution that KJV is to be the text used for Sunday School quarterly’s and by the pastor. Otherwise members are left to their own volition as to which version they want to use. And the by-law is enforced by the deacon body on the Sunday School/VBS materials and the pastor. The rest of the congregation carries various versions of the Bible which are out there, but most are KJV.

Here is one of the intrinsic beauties of the KJB . . . how many of these quaint old idiomatic sayings are in the modern versions. The second thread is an insight on how many scientific truths the KJB discovered before science even had a clue . . .

I never even heard of Gipp until last week. I went into full immersion on the guy. REgarding KJVO, he argues like a liberal. White argues like Ben Shapiro. White destroys him at every turn.

As someone raised on NASB (New American Standard Bible)...

Got to comment 28 before someone mentioned NASB! That's the version that was given to me when I received the Lord as my personal savior. Later found that it is closer to the literal meaning (as shown in the helpful chart posted by MacNaughton) while to me still being very readable. Still use it the most for personal reading and study.

Nevertheless, the KJV is beautiful, and many portions of it have passed into common usage in the English language. Also like the original NIV (not the "gender neutral" newer version) as being more readable and understandable for many.

Also - Getting to really enjoy the B-Bee!

The “so?” is an endtimes earthquake.

Absolute proof that the NT writers did not speak nor write in Greek (which we should have already known from the Maccabee letters)

As Mr Gordon’s search continues, it is likely that many other books will be found in the original language, opening up more of the word of truth.
