All 12 Boys And Their Coach Are Rescued From Thai Cave, After 2 Weeks

An elite team of Thai Navy SEALs and foreign rescue divers brought out the final four boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave near the Thai-Myanmar border, extracting the team through a labyrinth of tight passages after they spent two weeks trapped in darkness.

The operation on Tuesday moved quickly, raising hopes that all 12 boys and their adult coach from the Wild Boars soccer team would be at the surface by the end of the day.

"We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave," the Thai navy SEALs, which is helping to lead the operation, said on its Facebook page.

Earlier, the unit had written, "Today, the boar's pack will be reunited again."

One by one, the last of the remaining four boys were carried to ambulances that whisked them to evacuation helicopters and finally, on to the hospital.

BREAKING: Everyone at the press centre - volunteers and media - near the cave site just applauded and cheered as a helicopter flew overhead - flying one or more of the boys to the hospital in Chiang Rai? #ThaiCaveRescue @AFP

The boys, ranging in age from 11 to 16, and their coach, 25, set out to explore the Tham Luang Nang Non cave system on June 23, but they became trapped after heavy rains quickly flooded passages. Divers finally located them on July 2, allowing emergency crews to send them food and supplies.

Read today that the coach refused food for the kids sake....he ended up weaker than all the kids. He’s a hero to the parents who recognize and know him as well as to the Thai people.

Were it not for the coach taking the kids to dry ground,(most could not swim) showing them how to conserve oxygen by meditation and remaining calm....having them drink water from the cave walls rather than the toxic muddy waters we could easily have otherwise been reading of 13 dead bodies being recovered.

Americans might quail like that.

Maybe Musk can donate for a gate to be installed at the cave mouth. On the other hand maybe Thailand is the home of more brave and free than we are.

I don’t know what they believe
— Buddhism? Here’s where I believe there is room to hope that the Holy Spirit yet approaches people who have different religious notions, with the end game being to reveal Christ to a now willing person — perhaps by a wise word from a missionary.

I had been watching this story, only kinda. Didn’t know any details. I do now. It does appear that the coach is a good man, who risked a lot to help these kids out.

I understand that now. I only knew the basics of this unfolding story. I know more now.

I appreciate your reply, for not damning me for what I wrote. I understand now that the coach acted in a sacrificial way for his kids.

Enjoying the pile-on? The Thais would expel your from the country for saying such ill-informed, stupid things.

It is a story that parallels the saving sacrifice story of the Christian bible. I can hardly help but wonder and hope that the Holy Spirit will at some point will reveal the point of this real life drama to those people.

The four Navy SEALs - three divers and one army medic - are seen giving the thumbs up after they emerged safely from the cave on Tuesday. They had remained in the cave with the boys since they were found until all were rescued today.

“Everywhere you look - schools, TV, pop culture, the media - there is a war on men and masculinity... Until some kids get stuck in a cave. Then, all of a sudden, we need (and respect) the bravest, strongest, and brightest among us...”

this world is desperate for men(or women) who KNOW how to do things..

which is why nowadays I tend to respect the young man who can fix a car more than the college "educated" shirt behind the desk...

You know, on second thought- you're right. Keep the cave open, advertise it as a tourist attraction. Let everyone participate in their 'mark the cave' tradition! Especially in monsoon season! Good work for divers if they're well paid.
Mt Everest is at least pretty; but it's given lots of rescuers jobs too, because the supply of stupid people who risk their lives( and those of others) is endless. People are warned about dangerous places and, usually, steps are taken to protect the public. Will that happen here?
