They had to clear up the storyline....the show was getting obtuse & seemed to be drifting.

I almost did not tune into season 3. Glad I did now.

The setting is 1962, George Lincoln Rockwell is the Reichsmarschall of North America's Greater Nazi Reich formed after the USA lost WWII.

This guy is really dumb for attempting to put President Trump in an alternate Earth over fifty years ago.

Because typing out the author’s name, Phillip K Dick, to a poster who has read the book isn’t necessary.

Well if you're posting on a public thread then it's a statement to everyone who is reading and participating and the assumption that PKD is understood by everyone reading the thread is just plain ignorant.........

What I like is seeing all the vintage trucks and automobiles.

Me, too. Plus, I sent the reviewer this email:

Mr. Goodman,

As a fan of TMITHC I found your review interesting. I guess we all see what we want.

When I see the series depict a media complicit with government authorities, I sure don't think it's an analogy to the way our press treats Trump.

When I see it depict efforts to rewrite American history and destroy American cultural symbols, I think of the all the money & energy we've invested in removing statues and renaming schools & streets.

When I see it depict a regime that evaluates people based on their racial/ethnic identity, I think of Affirmative Action and Progressive obsession with race.

And when I see anti-semitism I sure don't think of a president who has a Jewish son-in-law and Jewish grand-kids and who moved our embassy to Jerusalem.

I can understand your intepretation, though, when all that gets reported is this -

https://youtu.be/FJkhUAdHqbQ [compilation snarky anti-Trump news]

And never this -

https://youtu.be/ZFt2xFiPtbc [clip of Trump's reception by staff at Pittsburgh hospital]

Regards,

You don't read much Science Fiction I guess.

Philip K. Dick the author who wrote the original story. He also wrote "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" which is the story the film "Blade Runner" was made from.

Also:
Total Recall
Minority Report
The Adjustment Bureau

No I don't. I didn't realize that was a prerequisite to commenting on this thread..........

My apologies to both you and proust.........

Since I'm kind of new to the new members only formats, is there a link to where I can join up?

I replied to a specific poster. I’m not here to educate the masses, sorry.

I am shocked that anyone could have liked Obergruppenfuhrer Smith. He is the personification of evil to me. And Julia's quest to avenge her sister's murder is the reason I am still watching into the start of the fourth episode this season.

I'll probably catch three more episodes tonight on Prime through Roku. Finding out that Julia was the daughter-in-law of the Pacifist Japanese Trade Minister, in an alternate reality with their shared memories was a master stroke of writing in my opinion.

Liking Obergruppenfuhrer Smith is sort like loving to hate JR from Dallas.

zero mils.

My favorite thing is how they make the evil of the fascists so banal. The best scene is still in season 1 with Joe talking with the state trooper about the hospital burning the defectives on Tuesdays. Chilling and demonstrative of how easily people can lose their moral compass. Season 3’s nurse testing the daughter for genetic flaws is almost as good {bad}.

He’s the only really interesting antagonist. He adds moral complexity that is otherwise missing because it’s stock villains of Nazis. He genuinely cares about his family and country, albeit in a twisted and evil political orientation. Plus with Season 2 it becomes apparent that Smith and the American Nazis aren’t nearly as fanatical and ruthless as their German counterparts like Heydrich, especially when he gets the bad news about his family and becomes conflicted about it.

That’s why I think people “like” him, because he’s a very human and realistic depiction of what evil is like in its rather banal form and not monologuing mustached twirling hams.

Maybe... OTOH, I thought it might have meant something else...
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a chronic, genetic disease causing uncontrolled growth of cysts in the kidney, often leading to kidney failure.

Probably because I did not like anything Phil Dick wrote...

I have watched season 1and 2 and am halfway through season 3. I was kind of frustrated with it after the end of season 2 because I couldn’t figure out what was going on with the traveler thing. Now I get It and I am loving the new season.

Not getting the Trump comparisons of the article. The Nazis are the National Socialist party after all. It shocks me in talking to people how many don’t know that.

I bought the book and read it last year and did not like it at all. I thought it could help me figure out the series but it didn’t. Not to offend the PKD fans but I found the plot of the book disjointed and unsatisfying. I really like the direction the show writers have taken with the plot of Season 3 so far, especially the sci fi angle.

Libtard socialists project EVERYTHING they do.

The right wants freedom from government and the courts demanding we do this or dont do that. The left is where the totalitarians and micromanagers live.

“...btw, only an ignorant leftist moron would draw any parallels at all between that series and President Trump ...”

So, roughly 50% of the USA.

I watched the first 2 seasons. I started to watch the 1st episode of the 3rd season. My wife had fallen asleep and I got disgusted when the heroine and her sister smoked some marijuana and were giggling stupidly. Kind of reminded me of some of the reasons I don’t like liberals. I turned it off and so far haven’t watched it again.
