Every lie since 1934 is coming to a head. back then they wanted to add handguns to the “machine gun” tax, because rifles were better for home defense.
Clear to 1983, they always said “We ONLY want to ban handguns. RIFLES will not be affected”. Then, in 1984, they made a grab for the rifles and missed.
If they actually get a ban on magazine fed semi-auto rifles, rest assured they will then draw up another list of firearms to be banned, then start a new blood dance.
After all is said, they are still looking for some way to get handguns, their primary target since 1962. If they can ban a rifle, they can ban a handgun.
Well, it may be that he wants it to be discussed so their arguments can be destroyed, one by one. I’m not necessarily expecting that, but I can hope. In the meantime, the only thing we can do about it is something we’ll do in November of 2020.
As you say the Rats only need 4 votes so the real question is will Trump veto it. I hate too say it but I’m betting he won’t. It will give the rats a huge victory going into 20.

What a complete, worthless worm. The morons in the House spend all year either trying to impeach Trump for existing or passing worthless bills against “hate,” while the Senate does absolutely nothing about anything - then takes a month vacation because they’re so exhausted from it all.
Hatred of Congress might just be the one thing the American right and left can actually agree on.
There isn’t a poolitician out there who wouldn’t be happy to see the citizenry dis-armed.
And an overreaching, corrupt central government.

I live in Kentucky and CC. I also understand the self defence laws here (very freeing). If that caravan had gotten on KY soil, it may just have been a “shot heard ‘round the world” moment.
I also realize that there are 22 R senate seats up for grabs in 2020 vs 12 D seats. Three are currently tossups- 2 Rs and 1 D.
If I had to guess, Yertle is planning on a vote knowing has has the nay votes but would let tossups vote yea to win their re- election.
We also hope if the legislature sends something to Trump, he KNOWS this would be a "No New Taxes" moment if he signs.

You pretty much nailed my viewpoint here. I’m no fan of McConnell, but every now and then he pleasantly surprises. I hope this is one of those times.

ANYTHING is going to take 60 votes anyway. NOT that there aren’t enough squishy RINOs to get there.
ALL Trump has to do is link tougher SENTENCING for ALL violent offenders to the gun violence “CRISIS” and any proposed legislation will die. Tougher sentencing will impact blacks disproportionately therefore it won’t ever happen.
Trump can then say he tried to address the BIGGER problem and the soft on crime Democrats weren’t interested.
Just crazy. And imagine after the way he was threatened he wants to cooperate with the left.
