Frankly, in a world without instant news, both of those shootings would be “distant” events. They didn’t happen in my country so, as far as I’m concerned, they could have happened in Beirut. The local politicians can deal with the quality of the character of their citizens.
BTW, my country is Kentucky. It is part of a union of 50 countries that have a few qualities in common, but they are all different. The only thing they share is an overarching constitution. Kinda like the EU.

The question is whether the GOP is going to support it or whether they are just trying to bait the Dems to support it. I suspect some of the GOP will support it. Maybe enough to pass it. The Dems only need 4 GOP votes.
