A 27-year-old Florida woman was arrested after her parents found two dozen pipe bombs in her bedroom and called the local sheriff's office, authorities said Friday.

Michelle Louise Kolts was arrested early Friday and booked on 24 counts of making, possessing, throwing, projecting, placing or discharging a destructive device.

I had a Sharps reproduction. It was not a cartridge rifle. You lowered the breech block, dropped in the ball or bullet poured in powder behind it all, raised the block, capped it and fired.

Well I had been a little careless with the powder. There must have been a fair amount still om the outside of the action. When it fired just enough fire made it around the breech to set the powder on the outside off.

Burned me a little. I was much more careful. It actually had a blade of metal to help seal the action but it wasn’t perfect.

When in my early teens (the 70’s), us boys used to make bombs and blow up inanimate objects (things) on an occasionally basis.

Nothing sinister at all.

Later, working in a plastics research lab, I put together miniature autoclaves that were remarkably similar to pipe bombs, and they would blow up in our ovens if we did not allow for proper water expansion at temperature.

No fun is allowed today at all.
