People forget the actual closure of the economy has been through STATE shutdown orders, starting in California. The economy won’t open until the governors lift those orders

Ah, I have been saying this for a while. No matter what, the left will blame Trump. Now they are saying he has blood on his hands and caused the death of thousands. Once this is over, and if it isn’t as terrible as predicted, then they will say Trump ruined the economy. I can just see Pelosi and Schumer rubbing their hands in glee thinking they have Trump in a fix no matter what happens. I despise these leftist jerks. I just hope the American public isn’t that dumb, but one never knows.

Capitalism has been what America is all about, before Ww2, therefore that ain’t POTUS 45’s fault!

Second, the newsmedia has hated me since the Vietnam War, of which I was a participant.

President Trump did not ruin anything! This question is posed with an assertion that is not warranted just like” “When did you stop beating your wife?”

Being president, and dealing with a crisis like this is exceedingly difficult. There is a huge reelection risk if the president under-reacts.

or maybe ever since Trump first questioned Barack Obama’s claim of being born in the U.S.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just being born here is insufficient to make one a natural born citizen.
The children of foreigners born with divided citizenship, loyalties and allegiances are precisely who the founders were excluding with the natural born citizen requirement.
Obama is proof they were correct.
I wouldn't say it was 'ruined' for 'nothing.' After all, there are about 9600 dead Americans who were alive 2 months ago, who'd still be alive otherwise. I'm not discounting the ensuring economic carnage and vaporization of many service businesses. But a little balance is in order.
As such, and in line with my prior post on a proper relative comparison of deaths across the world, below is today's update with April 5th totals for the US and other countries that started their round of golf on March 25. While the US' time series ends on Day 12 (which is April 5 - and is basis of the order, i.e., I sorted the data by Day 12 values), I am publishing other countries future totals/'golfer's scores' who are on hole 8 while we're at hole 4.
The US' ranking in this group of countries hasn't changed in the past few days. But the relative ranking of other countries is moving around; the 'hands-off' countries like Sweden and the Netherlands are rising in the ranks (which isn't a good thing). It's also worth noting the Spain AND the UK don't look good at all on this adjusted basis.
As I said previously, I'd prefer to be lower in this bodies-on-the-cart analysis, but for now it is what it is.
Did Trump Ruin Our Economy For Nothing?
If so, so did the leaders of France, UK, Italy, China, etc., etc. ruin their economies as well? This is bigger than the U.S. or President Trump. The models may turn out to be wrong. We may come out of this better than thought—which will be a good thing.
Virtually all of the leaders of the nations of the world decided to take the Wuhan-China Virus very seriously. Much more seriously than the initial mortality/infection rates would seem to justify. That to me is a big clue that something very bad is happening.
The rest of the year up to November (and probably beyond) will be a good time to turn off the news.
They are unhinged.
I had headphones on and was listening to some sky news out of Australia and it started an NBC story about how Bill Gates warned Donald Trump (in 2015 if I heard it right - he was not even President) about a pandemic and how we were unprepared.
This is going to be their narrative no matter how this story ends..... it will be Trump’s fault.
While I believe in and practice “being prepared” the fact is that you can hardly anticipate a once in a generation event. It would be like New Orleans stockpiling supplies every year for a hurricane that happens every 100 years.
I have said for decades that it was only a matter of time before we had a very bad pandemic. It is human history and in today’s environment of frequent international travel it has never been easier in human history to spread a pandemic. It has never been easier for an anarchist to create a virus and distribute it as an act of terrorism.
There are other events that we are entirely unprepared for as well. Imagine a solar storm that knocks out the electrical grid. I know people talk about EMP’s and the result can be the same, but it is possible that a solar storm is even more likely and could be even more crippling than an EMP that would likely cause a nuclear war. How equipped are we to restore our electrical grid within months? Answer: We are not. The largest transformers and switches are all manufactured in China with very few spares of necessary infrastructure. Will China restore their grid first or ours?
Is this likely? No. However, it is possible. Imagine this lock-down without electricity, without the internet, and without food. It would be worse than this pandemic for sure with riots and massive crime as our whole nation would come to a virtual stop.
I guess that would be Trump’s fault also.....
There’s a lot of one-dimensional thinking around here.
Trump is weighing, balancing, strategizing a hundred things simultaneously.
He knows how to win.
I won’t second guess him, or bet against him, or whine.
The President was told by others that this Wuhan Virus is a lot more than meets the eye. Damned if you do,damned if you don’t. The economy will rebound greater than before, because we are AMERICANS!!!
