A little less than three months ahead of the November general election, the latest ECU poll, conducted August 12-13, shows a dead heat in the race for president among registered voters in North Carolina. President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are in a tie at 47%.

Four years ago, Trump carried the state by 3.6 points, when the pre-election polls (according to RealClearPolitics) had him ahead by only 0.6 points. Just seven days before the election, the polls showed Hillary ahead by 3.3 points. The takeaway is that Trump has a very good chance of carrying North Carolina again.

My issue with this poll is with the Senate and Governor elections. Four years ago, the Republicans outperformed in the Senate race relative to the Presidential, winning by 5.6 points. This poll shows the Republican underperforming in the Senate race by 5 points. That would be a huge swing.

Turning to the Governor race, four years ago, the Democrats outperformed in the Governor race relative to the Presidential by just enough to win. This poll has the Democrat ahead by 13 points. Again, that would be a huge swing.

I never bought the claims that Biden was leading here. Trump is going to win North Carolina again.

What were the two bellweather counties, One in FL and one is IA (I think) that have been 100% accurate and all inside pollsters watch? I used to have a bookmark but have lost it.

so trump is up by about 8%.

That’s close to being past the margin of fraud, but still too close.

What’s maddening is that Cooper won because he painted his opponent as bad for business because of the bathroom controversy four years ago. Yet Cooper is VERY BAD for business in North Carolina. He’s the southern version of Cuomo. I’m surprised he has this much support.

the key component when cheating in an election...

make people think it’ll be close

and when you win by a few percentage points, no one questions it

NO ONE thinks biden will win. any such polls are trying to push a narrative to manufacture a reality favorable to cheating

Data were collected using both an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system of landlines only (n=879) and an online panel provided by Lucid (n=376).

Landlines???? REALLY? How many people are still tethered to that antiquated system in this day and age? They distorted their poll from the get-go with their methodology. LANDLINES? It was reported about two years ago that the entire state of Illinois had only ~19,000 residential landlines still connected. The rest were business landlines.

Honestly I can’t see Cooper winning. He might be popular with liberals and Blacks but he has alienated business owners in the state.

It is not the only way they can win.

In the last election the winner had already delivered his acceptance speech when somebody found thousands of ballots in the trunk of a car in Durham. (city sort of like Chicago)

Interesting that they found just enough vote to make the loser a winner.

Cooper has done a horrible job managing the Covid pandemic. We are still in phase 2 and he made masks mandatory several weeks ago. Parents are very angry with most of the schools returning virtually or on a limited schedule. Hopefully he will be gone with a Trump victory.

Everybody I talk to doesn’t have a single good thing to say about Roy Cooper. I can’t wait to vote against that jerk.

Polls are not good. But keep in mind, polls were not good for Burr 4 years ago and he won easily despite not campaigning much.

If this is the robo poll that called me last week they took info from a registered republican who voted for Trump in the last election and is now disgusted with him and is voting for Biden and all Democrats.

Cooper has the advantage of incumbency behind him. And he has cash on hand. If we make some noise on social media and donate to Forest, I believe that Cooper is vulnerable. People are finding his coronavirus measures way too stiffening. So we need to vote him out. Here in North Carolina, I'm not allowed to go to a gym and work out. Bowling? Nah that's out. Going to movie? Nope, too dangerous.

There were a couple polls showing Biden leading. Reality is starting to take hold. This week when they present their agenda, people will really wake up!
