I was devastated when I turned on the radio as his loving wife informed his audience. It was a real gut punch when I heard the news. I was left motionless as she made the announcement.

Ouch. My dad got me started on Rush, when I thought - based on the mainstream-media chatter - that he was just an obnoxious shock-jock.
I have been out of the habit of listening to him since I switched from AM radio to podcasts. I’m tuned in now listening to the legacy show they put together.
At least he’s out of pain, and won’t be seeing what will be happening to his beloved country the next 3.9 years.
