Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has surfaced as one of the only Democrat defenders of the filibuster, having to reject attempts from her own party to persuade her in eliminating the 60-vote requirement in order to advance most pieces of legislation.
Sinema joined with another Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), to block their party from eliminating the filibuster. Recently Breitbart News reported, Manchin conveyed Democrats do not have enough votes in the Senate to pass President Joe Biden’s $2.25 trillion infrastructure proposal due to six or seven Democrats who oppose raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent.
For this reason, pressure has started to build from their party, partly due to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wanting to ram through bills that have come from the far-left wing of their party.
Sinema told the Wall Street Journal, “the problem is senators’ behavior, not the chamber’s rules.”

“Stolengrad DC Kabuki”
the weirdly hot lesbian has admirable spine.
Can't even get many GOP Senators to say things like that, these days.
The filibuster is the last thing standing between her and some career ending votes. Next time she and Manchin are on the ballot, so will be Trump in all likelihood.
I talked to Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ-4) a couple of weeks ago about the Second Amendment and the conversation switched to Sinema after five minutes. He knows her very well and he seems to be sure that Sinema is adamant about retaining the filibuster.
that’s a really good point. ending the filibuster is the last thing 10 - 15 democrat senators ever want to see. the second that happens, they’ve got a huge problem on their hands.
all that sinister crap coming over from the socialists in the house would have to be dealt with.
Go Sexy Sinema, go!
She more than Manchin is the one to depend on with the filibuster.
But I think in the end, they stick together and refuse to undo it.
Don’t trust Sinema.
Don’t trust Manchin.
They will both vote to get rid of the filibuster.
Talk is cheap, but when it comes to trusting democrats, they will do as they are told by the ‘higher-ups’ in their party, if they know what’s good for them.
Party unity is more important to democrats than what’s good for the country.
I think they’ll fold before it’s all over with. of course, it wouldn’t matter if we hadn’t boycotted the GA runoff and given the senate away.
depending on democrats to keep the wolves at bay will get you eaten almost every time.
Sinema is a nutty leftists but she has some principles an she sticks with them. She and Tulsi Gabbard are two democrats who don’t care about occasionally telling the party bosses to buzz off on occasion. With Manchin it’s all fake for show, they can count on him if they need him and they know it. With Sinema, she’s a wild card.
Yo got that rite! She will fold at some appropriate time.
In her Senate victory speech in 2018 Sinema name checked McStain citing his “maverick” and “independent” nature and said that it is a tradition of AZ politicians to be that way. Her supporters at the time chided her for it but she may just hold her ground. I get the impression that pressuring her will not work.
Bisexual
Give me an hour or two with her in a room alone. She’ll come out straighter than a ruler!
“ Don’t trust Sinema.
Don’t trust Manchin.
They will both vote to get rid of the filibuster.”

Yeh, for sure. Schumer may make some minor insignificant tweak to the bill so to give them an out. But, after it’s said and done they’ll both cave...
