I’d prefer the opposite (regular time remains permanent), but I’ll take either. Because we’re on the western edge of the eastern timezone, it stays light out here (central Kentucky) past ten pm in the longest days.

I wonder how this would affect Arizona, which abandoned daylight savings time some time ago. Will they have to make one permanent switch from standard time?

Shoulda split the difference. There are other countries/zones that are a half hour off, too.

Why don’t se just shift the time zones on the entire planet, then we could go back to having standard time all the time. And so could the rest of the world.

There was a time before light became easier to produce in early American agrarian when Daylight Saving Time made sense. No.
It never made sense and the "agrarians" all hate the stupid system that is so dumb only a government academic could come up with it.
Set the clocks and be done with it you nitwits.

The Soviet Union was on DST for decades because somebody forgot to tell everybody to set their clocks back in the fall and were too scared to tell anyone.................

The measure still needs approval from the U.S. House of Representatives and the backing of President Joe BidenThey clearly don't have the time to deal with this given the current threat facing our nation, climate change.

I’m at a loss here. I’m fine with either, just stop the switching with the understanding that at some point of the year, it’s either going to be darker than we desire earlier or lighter than we desire later. That’s how seasons work. Adjusting clocks doesn’t make the season not happen.

One would be hard-pressed to find a single person who doesn’t agree with this. Those who do not agree don’t really have a case. They’re just being contrarian.
I can't imagine anyone who doesn't want permanent STANDARD time, not permanent DST...
To: cuban leaf
I’ll take either, just quit messing with my body-clock.
To: Red Badger
Why wait?
It sbould never have happened in the first place.

Standard time all of the time is what should be implemented. At noon, the sun should be at or near the meridian (depends on how far one is away from the center of the time zone one is in).

One of the things I enjoy is making fun of friends, neighbors and ex-coworkers that had to get up an hour early......politicians can truly F up anything.

Daylight Savings Time is stupid. Kids in the dark awaiting school buses — poor safety.
This is all for sports.
Spent almost ten years in AZ and loved not dealing with it. In the construction world we just started our work day earlier as heat required. Working a job site 5:30 until 2:00 was a great way to avoid the heat. Concrete placement was overnight anyway so it was never a big deal with most employees.

Arizona would probably go on Pacific time year round-which would mean summer hours would stay the same
