Now what is he going to do next because food prices, especially grain prices, are so high? He would be more successful developing a fusion mobile.

My affluent BIL and his commie wife have an electric BMW, solar panels, too much money and not enough brains (Florida). They will vote Rat if gas goes to $10.
He says he hopes it goes to $10 so no one can afford to drive and share the road with him.

If E15 is bad in the Summer, why is E10 also not banned?

Gas blended with more ethanol has a lower vapor point so it evaporates quicker in the summer heat. E15 evaporates quicker than E10 which puts more organic vapors in the air. That's why summer blends contain less ethanol.

In any case, it's a dumb idea. They're going to allow more ethanol so it'll lower the price of a gallon of fuel, but the extra ethanol also lowers fuel mileage. It'll cost less to fill up but the tank of gas won't take you as far so it won't lower the cost of driving. The price on the pump will be less so they reason that consumers will cheer Biden for lowering fuel prices when in reality it won't do a thing other than damage more engines because of the extra ethanol.

But, it’s green. I was at a local hardware store when the owner was selling a couple a weed eater. He told them to use non-ethanol gas, or, if they used ethanol gas to burn it all up, or pour the leftover on the ground.

The ethanol attracts water from the atmosphere, which damages gas tanks and engines, especially if it sits for a while. It can’t be shipped in pipes, so it’s transported in trucks. It takes the place of food or feed crops on farms, making food and raising livestock more expensive. The ethanol doesn’t even work as effectively in engines, which means more gallons are needed per mile. And it’s not even cheaper to make, nobody would use it in the first place but for government subsidies and requirements.

“soaring fuel prices in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

Never mind that they were soaring before the Russkies and Ukes got their tango going.

“Ethanol kills engines.”

LOLQ

Mustang Fuel Change Up: E85

Internal combustion engines, as we know, rely heavily on fuel in order to make power. There are different types of fuel that can be utilized. A growing, more common fuel, is a great alternative to traditional pump gas. E85 stands for 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. At a normal pump gas station ethanol percentage can be up to 10% ethanol and the rest gasoline. There are many benefits, along with a few drawbacks, of running E85.

What is the Overall Purpose of E85
It’s simply a different type of fuel, generally speaking. E85 is primarily utilized when more power is desired without making any other changes (other than a tune and fuel components). It is rated at 100-105 octane and runs cooler than traditional gasoline which allows the car’s timing to be increased, making more power overall. For large, boosted applications, this can result in a solid increase in power. Another nice benefit of E85 is the price. When in comparison to traditional gasoline, it’s cheaper by the gallon, which means more rubber to lay down on the street!

“Bingo, they will get us to switch to EVs by ruining our ICEs.”

E85 tunes cars are running just, only producing more power!

The article also says it significantly reduces mpg. So it may be cheaper by the gallon but you’ll buy a lot more gallons. Again, corn should be used for food. Especially since the world is facing a possible famine due to our idiot “leaders”.

number sounds impressive until you compare:

2 million tons x 2000lb/ton = 4000000000 pounds
4000000000 / 7 lbs per gallon = 571 million gallons

amount of ethanol produced in the US from corn = 15 billion gallons

Refiners like more ethanol because it is a cheap way to raise octane. Want 87 octane? formulate 85 octane and dump ethanol into it.

Vapor lock? Not our problem. Crappy mileage, nope. Corrosion, not that either. Take what you get and be glad you got it.

wonderful way to ruin the viability of a car over the long term. Unless the engine is designed with ethanol as the proffered fuel it should not be used.

Vapor lock may be an issue for the non-fuel injected engines, but how may pre-1990 vehicles are on the road these days?
