I've posted this before, but it keeps coming up on my smart phone, and I keep getting floored by how timely this speech remains. It's as if he's talking about the present day.

> It’s as if he’s talking about the present day.

It’s an inherent problem with government. It’s intrinsic. There will always be someone who imagines that power in the hands of the “right people” is automatically beneficial, yet historic counter-examples are so common that we have expressions for it: “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely,” or “the road to hell is paved with good intentions,” or “for every problem in human affairs, there is always a solution - simple, neat, and wrong.”

A reasonable heuristic to follow is to maintain skepticism towards any proposal to expand government in order to solve a problem, no matter how wonderful it may seem. People who ridicule those skeptics should be considered would-be tyrants, no matter wonderful they imagine themselves.

Could Ron DeSantis give that kind of speech? I’m sure today’s left would be scared to death listening to it. The Kenyan could get people to listen like that, empty resume and all. Reagan was a 2 term big state Gov. Ted Cruz can come close but I don’t trust him anymore.

Obama and BJ were once-in-a-century politicians who served in the same times. I don’t see one on the HORIZON in either party. Until then we will have to go with nuts and bolts nominees with experience.

The GOP GAVE Carter the WH(Watergate). Clinton? Read my lips. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

I have developed a different and much more cynical view of this.

Those people saying they need power to make things better? They are *LYING*. They want more power to enrich themselves and their allies. It's about funneling money from the slaves into the pockets of the connected.

They really have no interest in making things better, that's just public relations, their real interests lie in controlling the gravy train.

They are parasites, not misguided altruists.

The Great Society has now become The Great Reset.

The globalists know it is now or never.

Putin can go down as the hero who helped topple the western capitalists in favor of a socialist utopia.

Socialist utopia. That’ll be good to remember while waiting in long bread lines.

Neither Trump nor De Santis can match Reagan as an orator. Trump has his standard index-card speech that he adds to and changes, but each rally it’s always the same speech. De Santis, I haven’t heard anything resembling oratory from. You have Churchill, JFK and then Reagan as orators. For anything comparable, you have to go back to the Romans, although Netanyahu is sometimes pretty good.

Don't worry, our version of Pravda will be filling your head with all the great successes of socialism and all the horrors of capitalism while you wait in that breadline.

It worked for 70+ years in the USSR, so it should work here as well

Best of all, there won’t be any pesky American example putting the lie before everyone’s eyes. Pravda says it’s a paradise. You’ve never known anything different. So dammit, it’s a paradise. Shut up and scrape the mold off your bread ration and keep the line moving.

“Forgot the Kenyan. Didn’t matter what he stood for.”

He stood for a technician finessing his audio to have just the right amount of echo that he sounded like a god speaking from on high. Rush made fun of it in one of his parodies.

Though they were both the ultimate in evil Adolf Hitler and Josef Goebbels were probably two of modern history’s greatest orators.
