Exclusive: U.S. aims to arm Ukraine with advanced anti-ship missiles to fight Russian blockade

The White House is working to put advanced anti-ship missiles in the hands of Ukrainian fighters to help defeat Russia's naval blockade, officials said, amid concerns more powerful weapons that could sink Russian warships would intensify the conflict.

Ukraine has made no secret it wants more advanced U.S. capabilities beyond its current inventory of artillery, Javelin and Stinger missiles, and other arms. Kyiv's list, for example, includes missiles that could push the Russian navy away from its Black Sea ports, allowing the restart of shipments of grain and other agricultural products worldwide.

"Bryan Clark, a naval expert at the Hudson Institute, said 12 to 24 anti-ship missiles like the Harpoon with ranges over 100 km would be enough to threaten Russian ships and could convince Moscow to lift the blockade. "If Putin persists, Ukraine could take out the largest Russian ships, since they have nowhere to hide in the Black Sea," Clark said."

State department believes Russia is likely to lose in Ukraine, and will likely have a coup attempt against Putin.

This is a risky move. Biden’s State department believes its not as risky if Russia will be in civil strife soon.

So what is the game plan in that scenario?

Position themselves to a narrative that serves and enriches themselves. Take as much credit as possible.

About time. Run the Russians out of the Black Sea.

The US keeps upping the ante and hoping for a Russian coup which is unlikely to happen. Russia will never withdraw from Crimea or the Donbas, and any attempt to remove them from either will result in a tactical nuke being used.

Yeah, that's not happening. You're landlocked, Zel. Time to start playing the piano.

Boy, let’s hope none of those missiles fall into the hands of Iran, Houthi Rebels, Hamas, Venezuela, etc. etc.

The Russians TOTALLY wouldn't hold the neocons' little proxy naval war against the US...

Why? Russia lived without the Crimea from 1991 until 2014.

Someone “brilliant” in the Biden regime says “Hey, I’ve got an idea… let’s arm Ukraine with 100 km anti-ship missiles. What could go wrong?”

What the warmongers aren’t considering is the possibility that this could motivate the Russians to invade ALL of Ukraine’s southwestern territories. Those being driven insane by the pounding of the war drums will cheer this latest escalation, of course.😿😿

Sounds like an act of war on our part if they use one. But keep trying Neocons.

An unstable Russia is a threat to Russia.

A stable Russia is a threat to everyone.

While anti-ship missiles might push back the Russian blockade, It isn’t difficult to destroy the docks and grain storage facilities in Odessa with a few missile strikes. It may be tit for tat, but tat takes it on the chin.

“Russia will never withdraw from Crimea or the Donbas, and any attempt to remove them from either will result in a tactical nuke being used.”

And with such certainty of the operational doctrine of the MT&A you must be none other than Lieutenant-General Mikhail Matveyevsky, right?

What would they invade with?
The Russians are close to their military limit, in terms of available manpower and cadre, and in “high tech” arms.
Anything they can build up significant units with will look like something out of 1985, even if the finally decide to mobilize.

Tat is a wasting asset if the blockade continues. And the Russians can decide to shoot at them anytime as it is. This is war, not a conversation. But I doubt those dockyards are high priority in the Russian grand scheme of things.
