We would say the urban environment of coddling criminals and keeping quiet about the rage people feel at being victimized daily was partly caused by license.

Baraka and his writings emanated extreme and hostile anti-white sentiment. He viewed blacks as morally superior to whites, who he believed were innately evil.

If the police, courts, DA's, mayors and legislators did their jobs, thieves would not be this brazen.
Leftists blames crime on "disenfranchisement", but it's hard working shop owners who are disenfranchised, robbed of their livelihood and they get no protection, no representation.
Pushing back like this is the only answer left now.

Who is this person to decide what “exceeds self-defense”? Thugs don’t necessarily let the victim know in advance how far they plan to go with their actions. Just enough to get away? Or enough to leave you disabled or dead?

With all due disrespect, the Bee is wrong. The shopkeepers did the right thing and should have done more. Since the “law” does nothing, the citizens had the right to protect their lives and property.

The politicians want more of this kind of theft. It’s a down payment on the plan to turn over all the legitimate assets of this country to lazy, worthless, criminal slobs who blame all their failures on the hard-working productive people.

Store clerks have legal options when someone shoplifts.

And there's the problem, right off the bat. If the police won't bother investigating a crime, and/or the DAs won't bother executing the law and prosecuting it or seeking any meaningful sentence for the offender, then those 'legal options' are worthless.

What we're seeing is the logical end result of the leftists' assault on basic police work and and their trashing of our legal system. They've damaged it to the point where it no longer gets results, and the public has begun to realize this state of affairs.

It's only natural that people stop doing that which gets no results, and start seeking alternatives...
